The 3.7 liter V6 Mustangs are an excellent performance value, and so is the current base model four cylinder.

Here is a 3.9 liter (240 cubic inch) naturally-aspirated engine in a street car, that produces well over 800 horsepower on pump gas with no turbo, no supercharger, no nitrous, and no pistons:

Is buying a Discovery II a bad idea?

You're also gonna need a case of this: Because once the smoke leaks out, you're gonna need to put more smoke back in, to get your Lucas electrics to work...

Is buying a Discovery II a bad idea?

They've been available forever- the first one I saw, was back in the '70s...

We've got all kinds of crazy ideas- a wine rack for French and Italian wines, a globe bar for single-malt Scotch, a display case for our matching Arai Isle Of Man TT motorcycle helmets- nothing is off the table...

Actually, the cost of owning a Hellkitten is a LOT more than the cost of owning a Widowmaker- the Hellkitten will depreciate massively, just like any other consumer-grade domestic passenger car, but you would actually MAKE money owning a Widowmaker, because they will only appreciate. Previous...

The Hellkitten can't do this- heck, a stock Demon can't do this: ...and the Widowmaker meets emissions standards and comes with a full factory warranty...

What do you mean by "heavily modified"? It's a malaise-era 4-cylinder auto trans car, with a stock body at stock weight, stock suspension design, stock bore, stock stroke, stock displacement, stock compression ratio, stock block, stock crank, stock rods, stock pistons, stock cylinder head...

The thing I find most amazing about drag racing, is not what the average NHRA "consumer" finds most amazing. I could not care less about Top Fuel- I love Stockers, and the slower, the better. For example, Marty Buth's '84 Mustang 4-cylinder auto-trans P/SA Stocker would dump most stock Hellkittens:

Help me choose a BUDGET build

Buying an old hoopty with two spins on the odometer for the kind of money you're talking about, is going to be the equivalent of purchasing someone else's past-due maintenance and repair bills. Who knows what kind of maintenance, if any, it has received. We went a different route, and purchased...

We are really trying to have fun with this- the project of building it together with my wife, is as much a part of the experience as all the things we hope to do with it after we're done.

The last 81" before the drawbridge, is going to be the garage, for the motorcycles and bicycles. Above that, will be a north-south queen bed, with a large cabinet on the right side. In front of that, will be our east-west dining area, with seating for one on each side, facing each other. There...

I just ran the numbers- with an absolutely perfect chassis set up, a 4,600 pound Hellkitten would need well over 1,000 horsepower to run a 9.50 quarter mile. With a less than perfect chassis set up, it would take even more horsepower to do that.

The Widowmaker is so much faster than a Hellkitten, you'd probably need two cameras to record a race between them- they are not even close in terms of performance. Heck, the 991 Widowmaker will even dump a stock Dodge Demon in the standing quarter mile...and go around corners...and brake...and...
