The chassis was soaked with rust converter in between the double chassis rails and along the rails then pressure cleaned at 3500psi. This was also done in the double rails and left to dry. Another rust converter was then injected between the rails using a syringe and fine needle. This time it...
I believe you are right as it has been a local truck down there from new. It will certainly get a new life in a nice warm "retirement". IT HOPES.
There is nothing really wrong with it other than syncro on 4th gear but we are making quite a few changes. As Henny said we drove our Canter on a rush...
This has been an adventure that I believe a lot of people would like to do, myself included. Great photos, great report, wish I was there.
Thank You Again,
Dan.
Not normal. With both hubs locked you should not be able to turn the drive shaft either way (there will be a bit of slack either way). Wheels on the ground,Transfer case in 2wd. Yes you can undo the outer six phillip head screws on the hub and slip that section out. Unless they pulled the hub...
Well then You better stay on the bitumen. I believe you have no sense of Adventure. I run nearly all dirt roads in 4WD as it is safer and better for the vehicle.
Dan.
Now you are spoiling all the fun, But yes it is possible to go fairly extreme if you want too.
Don't quite agree with that as a lot of time you need to use 4WD to get where you want to go. But you do have to know the limits of you and your vehicle capabilities.
We haven't been stopped yet...
I only run that sort of pressure when I'm fully loaded. Lightly loaded 40 in the front so I don't scrub out the edges, 35 in rear with not much load up to 60/65 in the rear depending on load. And then change front if needed. Real good ride with lower pressure. If you read my threads you will see...
A canter will handle sand really well but like you say you have to air down quite a bit and with 19.5"s that is where you will probably have trouble. With my 16"s I would have no trouble going down to 20psi and lower if I was getting into trouble.
Dan.
That's what it is all about, getting out there and seeing beautiful country. Well done, love the pics and the video.
Dan.
PS :- These Canters have a sound all of there own and it is good to hear it coming down the road towards you.
PSS :- My brother says it is great hearing it coming down...
I mounted 3" rubber flares to the front of mine to stop the mud from getting thrown up over the cab. There are photos in my first Cape trip thread.
Dan.
I know it's been awhile but work and Computer not doing what its suppose too with my videos. The Frenchmans Track is not that hard a run when it is as dry as what it was but it is a narrow track and has a couple of great river crossings. One being the Wenlock and we had a play on the approaches...
