Ubolt / exhaust clamps would be better than hose clamps IMO. Or the ones mentioned in the link I posted before https://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/2nd-gen-xterra-roof-rack-attachment.201432/#post-2571416
Thanks for the replies and information. After doing some more reading online, I *think* I'm understanding my situation better.
My app in the iphone was purchased a few years back, before Gaia GPS went to the subscription model. So I have what they call a "Legacy" membership. It appears this...
I have been using the app on my iphone and it works well for offline navigation when hiking and offroading. I just realized that I could install Gaia GPS on an older android tablet, and it seems to work loading the waypoints I've created. One limitation though seems to be that I cannot...
If you have a Sears near you (sadly that's getting harder to come by) it looks like these are on sale for 1/2 price today:

It is. Not sure why one person has a problem with Subarus being posted for sale, but at least he's consistent.

The Xterra crossbars are pretty weak. IMO you’d be much better off to attach stuff to stronger crossbars like shown in the link, or directly to the rails. Lots of good info on...
I don’t know anything about Jeeps but you could also try asking on these regional forums, maybe someone local could help you out:

I don't have much personal experience with vehicle recovery, but I think in the real world you're more likely to have peak shock loads that far exceed the weight of the vehicles involved. As opposed to the slow deliberate controlled pull of the failure testing in the video. Maybe with winching...
Nice looking 4Runner!
I had a question on your mounting hardware here... where did you get this eye nut? This style could work well on my strut channel rack. Thanks.
We have four of these (Double Black Diamond... Black Diamond is a different company) with no issues. Costco has a great return policy, just bring them back there.
Thanks for the suggestion. In looking through their available items, how does one know which would be suitable for a DIY soft shackle? Would you just need to google the specs of the different ropes they are selling?
Do any of the ones listed at Wesspur match these types?
Thanks, I was not intending to be rude, just offering my thoughts on why they could be hard to find.
I couldn't figure out why someone would want to put a cot up on the roof, but the video you posted answered that question: He's trying to avoid bear encounters. Not sure if it's effective, but...
