I love watching this build, what beast the 6x is. I recently spent a few weeks with the Aussie Army boys in Hawaii and they had a few 6x with them for mobile mechanic and armorer vehicles. I was absolutely amazed of the performance of this thing with the low range box; it really just crawled...
Thanks for the comments Connor!
As Connor said, it's for glare reduction on the hood, especially for when roof mounted lights are installed. Hence the flat black finish. I thought about wrapping the whole hood or plasti-dipping the entire hood but I like the break out of the body lines with...
FJ62!......nice.
Yeah I saw a Euro Disco 3 on line with much of the vehicle wrapped or blacked out in some fashion and it was really clean looking. When my 17" wheels get here, I'll surely be blacking them out to ease the covering of the trail rash. Hahahaha.
Nice wagon. I look forward to seeing the upgrades.
Do you have a GAP Diagnostic IID Tool yet? If not, I think most will recommend that being your first purchase. Hit up Lucky8 and go for the Bluetooth version and you'll love it.
Rover on! :smiley_drive:
Crawlorado Hood Black Out.
Picked up this hood black out from Crawlorado. Great how to vid on YouTube as well and super easy install.
Took about an hour because I'm OCD and it had to be perfect only to come out 99.9% perfect. Haha.
Remove washer jets = 1 min
Measure 50 times = 50 min
Peel...
X 2 from Mlu on plasti-dip. I would give it a good sanding to get the peeling off in the areas you need and then shoot a good primer sealer on it. Then plasti-dip it.
I like the idea of a sand color. I hate to say it, but Jeep and Toyota have a nice sand color now and I think classic Rover...
Nice pics. I just had the racing stripes buffed out of the paint this week.....well, those that could be buffed out that is. Honestly, the only reason I did it was because I am down for surgery and I wanted to put my hood blackout on clean and clayed paint...ahhaha.
The cleanliness is short...
Update to 17" wheel modification
It's been a while since I have posted any updates on Project Victory. There has been a change in thought process due to some much-needed advice from some of our overseas friends in the UK. Specifically, member A.J.M. who has volunteered himself to assist...
Hahaha. Yeah man, never leave home without your bivvy......NEVER! But that's why we all start as a boot at sometime. And we will always be boot to someone.
Dude, no joke. I modified one years ago with a velcro set up when I did my ruck modifications and last year I go in and grab some new kit and see this sweet as linder with a zipper. All I can think is......bout fn time. Bivy, tarp and liner is all a man ever needs to roll to get their gun on...
I should have clarified by saying full set up. When my Tesla finally shows up, Victory is going full off-road status. I will be pulling the rear seats and carpet and installing my own version of the commercial set up.
I'd rather this go to a good home but yes, might be good to use until then...
I bought this North American Custom Covers rear cargo cover a few months ago and decided I'm not going to need it since I'm building a full cover platform for the rig. It's brand new and never installed. I know some other members have this and love it.
I paid about $30 more than current prices...
I felt the same thing the first time I strapped the hammock to my Landy....hammock life is like no other unless you do hammock life tied to a Landy.
Recognizable poncho liner as well......hammock and Ranger roll is all a man ever needs to survive!
I second the Rhino Hitch and should be no problems on the TR rear bumber for fit. That's what I'm getting when I upgrade the hitch.
You're gonna love the rear TR bumber. I suggest getting the steps like I did, very nice.
Safe travels on the trip.
Never really thought of the 17" alloy TDV6 wheels. I guess I just figured I was going for durability of the steel wheel for the trail specific tire set up. I plan to daily drive my 18" factory wheels and when j head up in the mountains on the long weekends do the swap to mud tire on 17" set up...
I already have dropped the money on one steel wheel for fitting shipped in from Germany. I'm willing to do the same for the Mud tech wheel if I get confirmation back from them on which wheel, required mods if any and how long it will take them to get me one in Hawaii.
I just had ankle surgery...
