    This truck is unbelievable good

How are D5 owners getting along with their trucks a year later? The price bubble on LR3/LR4/D5s seems to be popping a bit in my area and I'm again kicking around picking one up for either a third car (LR3 especially) or to replace one of our current vehicles. We waited a long time for a Rivian...

    This truck is unbelievable good

Fuel was actually one of my worries, but I don't imagine I'll spend that much time in Mexico where I would worry. But yes, I'm pretty convinced (partially from having read this thread) that diesel is the way to go.

    This truck is unbelievable good

The diesel is what I have been looking for for the reasons you mention (though my wife is somewhat opposed to diesel in general). I'm a tiny bit afraid of the diesel particulate issue that a couple of people have reported on a different forum, but not so much as to be put off. Diesel is cheaper...

Has anyone seen the rear cargo volume yet?

    This truck is unbelievable good

I am still very interested in these. I'm just waiting out the used car bubble (like everyone else) as I imagine that they'll take a larger than average depreciation hit afterwards and so I could grab one affordably. I'm still keeping my eyes open, but the perfect truck hasn't popped up near me yet.

Heading to Hawaii….what to do with my ‘13 LR4 HD?

If I were you, I'd just take it to Hawaii. The costs you mention in shipping are basically going to be eaten in transaction costs of buying a new vehicle when you get to Hawaii and then when you come back. If you buy a similar cost car (25k) when you get there and when you get back (after...

Unrelated to the Grenadier, but you're from Warren? I'm from DuBois (originally) and had an uncle who lived in Warren. It's not exactly a well-populated part of the state but it is a great area for someone who likes to exploring. There aren't too many areas on the East Coast with as much public...

Rivian R1T (pickup) vs. R1S (SUV) for "overlanding"

I don't tow anything right now, but I have the same worries about rural travel. But I would consider going electric now and just using the van for long rural trips. It limits how hairy the route can be, but I was really excited for PHEVs, but now I'm not as sure. I thought the PHEV Wrangler...

Rivian R1T (pickup) vs. R1S (SUV) for "overlanding"

I imagined that I would have one more ICE (or hybrid) vehicle before going full electric, but now I'm not so sure. I outside of Las Vegas, where gas is expensive by electricity (esp. in my town) is cheap and from hydro. We basically do three types of trips. Most my my exploring is done on day...

Rivian R1T (pickup) vs. R1S (SUV) for "overlanding"

I'll be interested to see if they release a version that is under $55k to qualify (which I believe Tesla did with some model). Ford is releasing a version in the US that could be under that cost threshold without funny business, so it seems silly not to release it in Canada. I'll be curious to...

Rivian R1T (pickup) vs. R1S (SUV) for "overlanding"

Ford's Lightning XLT starts at 68k in Canada, though to get the Rivian to the 115k range, I assume that you checked a good number of boxes on the Rivian (fancier trim, max pack battery, off road package), so the Ford XLT might be below what you're aiming for. Still a similar configuration (XLT...

    INEOS Grenadier

I'm don't mean to imply that the Grenadier won't be "worth" the 70k plus price. It very well may be. I personally am not comfortable spending that much on a vehicle like it at this point. The email said that putting in a deposit now would get you in line to order in Late 2022. So that means I...

Yep, at 70k+ I'm not interested. Well, I'm interested as it's cool, but I'm not buying one. Thats more than I'd be willing to pay for an ICE vehicle at this point even though I really like the form factor.

I think the issue is that while some cars still have those things, they're not expected to for much longer. And while it has an infotainment screen, you don't control much through it, you get individual buttons. I actually am totally fine with most updates (electronically engaged transfer cases...

I totally understand where you're coming from. I also - whether I admit it or not - tend to like the non-obvious option. It's probably one reason I ended up with one of the least cool vehicles in existence as my adventure-mobile. Though when I got it, I lived in the Northeast and was mostly...

    INEOS Grenadier

I hope that the Grenadier comes together in terms of being the best version of the tried and true. It seems like it has the potential to, but until we see exactly how well those systems work together I won't be totally unconcerned given it's the first vehicle from the manufacturer. It's not like...

Ha as I had this open, I was reading a thread on Defender2.net with someone discussing the (potentially) different markets for the Grenadier/Rivian and realized that unless there are two ChasingOurTrunks on the internet, I was reading the comments of the same person across multiple sites. (y)

    INEOS Grenadier

Thanks! That would be a pretty good pricepoint given current market conditions, but it also depends on the North American price conversion. I am also interested in the Rivian/Lightning (which maybe seems a bit odd given what the Grenadier is offering, but I'm balancing different uses) and if it...

Do we have any idea on pricing yet? I got an email today saying that the reservation window for folks on their mailing list is opening in a week (or at least for people who got on the mailing list when I did, might be open already for some) and they'll be taking $450 refundable deposits to claim...

    This truck is unbelievable good

Honestly I like hatches. They make it easy to get deeply packed cargo and provide a nice little sun/rain shelter. To be fair, I also think a minivan body with the Discovery's drivetrain/suspension would be the ultimate adventure vehicle.
