    Trailer light problems

Almost always!! This is poor ground connection. Most trailer light fixtures grouto the trailer at the bolt that holds the fixture on the trailer. I had one trailer that was a constant issue with this exact behavior. I ended up running a ground wire around and running a tail under each mounting...

This could be a game changer for some, Ford Transit Trail coming to the US

Allot of Fords model announcements are being driven by parts availability and future plans to move away from the dealer model which is critical to the future of the company. Buyers who can afford expensive new vehicles will not be buying vehicles from Dealers. Many of my neighbors are driving...

    The Escape 19

Yep Daily FB group posts have even high end stuff getting dumped. Airstream has 3yr transferable warranty ??. I figure if the presumably more financially capable buyers of the higher priced stuff are dumping units like they are infested with plague rodents the whole market is toast for a while...

    The Escape 19

I have seen many loose bolts on the wiring side in a few different brands. Probably a combo of sloppy work and road vibration in many cases. Road vibration definitely will rattle everything loose at some point.

    The Escape 19

Oh dang. Hopefully it didn’t screw up your trip? I’m still waiting on the stupid prices to crash. Going to look at a Airstream 23CBB next week for another idea err possible option. Getting my parking area sorted so I can jump on the epic RV market crash looming ?.

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

I do find the Airstreams some offer fairly comfortable living space. I’m eyeing the 23D / 23CB and 23FB with interest. The duel axle setup for weight carrying ability ie more durability than the singles, the seating area is better configured for lounging use vs occasional weekend short trips...

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

Lance is probably the worst trash I have seen. All of them have delaminated siding from leaks. Oliver is a fiberglass bucket on a trailer frame. Totally different type of trailer. Oliver, Escape out of BC and Casita all are fiberglass buckets on a trailer frame. Oliver puts a inner liner in...

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

87’s were still bricks? The 05 first gen of the F1 styled sleek clean front end, even the mirrors are shaped into the fender for a super smooth aerodynamic aspect. Its beea long time since I read the design sheet but at the time I recall its drag coefficient was stupidly low for vehicles at...

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

Haha In 1980 we had a oil embargo VW Dasher 5spd manual 1.2ish liter non turbo diesel. We would take that car up into Fort Jones area Northern Ca 6ish hour drive each way, on back packing trips. I-5 we could tuck in behind a semi both directions. Do the whole trip there and back on 10 gallons...

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

Yep except the 2005 SLK 350 I inherited actually gets better road trip mileage between 70-75 than it does at 55-60. Granted its tiny and more slippery than a greased pig.

Look at the gas mileage posted in this old Ford ad!

Must be flat land and rural with no traffic. The forester is a box on a impreza platform and even at 55-60mph road trips 26-28mpg was about typical max mileage with zero roof gear.

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

Just talking with a fellow Expedition XL heavy tow guy who has a Airstream 23D 6000lb max gross trailer. He is running into cases where family of 4 can max his rear axle load rating depending on his gear being packed along. His load ratings are 9300 max trailer and 1700lb max vehicle. No mods...

    Towing a 16ft Airstream with a 4runner? Other alternatives?

Living out of it? Yeah 4runner way too light in the shorts for the Airstream tongue weight and gear you’ll have in the 4runner. Also locking secure garage space for stuff will be really important if its your home. If it were me no doubt full sized pickup truck.

Need help: Which trailer works best for us?

With RVs and boats price reset is created by bankruptcy and repos. Both of which are climbing. My brothers law partner handles bankruptcy for a major CA region 5 months ago he saw 1 every few weeks today he sees several a week. He said the fundamentals are all the same the early bankruptcy cases...

Need help: Which trailer works best for us?

Winter ski camp in any vehicle is going to be full of icing particularities no matter what is being used. Heck my house moved to a ski resort would have icing particularities ??. As for prices you need to look at 2015-2019 prices to get a real idea of where they should be today. In 4-8 months...

Need help: Which trailer works best for us?

Scott there is a big disconnect with younger buyers and Airstream largely cost. Oddly dropping 50-k -$130k on a import which will be orphaned in a few years ie no parts availability. I do agree that the Airstream should be in the conversation once people are into the 50k and up prices. I also...

The bigger the truck, the greater the (misplaced?) concern about payload?

US mid sized rigs are not the same frame found in other countries. The US mid sized frames get fused aka redesigned to bend at the cab/bed for crash standards. Its no surprise to see US mid sized trucks bent like a banana towing heavy Australian style trailers at speed in the desert.
