An old 7.3 powerstroke wasn’t very heavy compared to trucks these days, and made far far less power. With a heavy foot, an 8800 lb truck, and 1200 lbs of torque I could keep tires on my 350 for 40K miles. In a 7000 lb 7.3 putting 400 lbs of torque to the ground it would be much easier. Tires...
First two things I’d do is pull the front sway bar completely and drop tire pressure. It’ll be liveable then. However a completely stock super duty with 65+ psi and sway bar intact will be miserable.
One a smaller tripod you’re correct. The tripods I run hold a 20 lb rifle with the majority of the mass being leveraged to one side without issue, and are rated for considerably greater than that. Legs can be adjusted out for greater stability as well. It’s in theory the same design as your...
That cocktail table just gave me a good idea. It looks very useful, but im not quite ready to let go of $400 for it. However I can fab a DIY version for about $60-80. I’ve got a couple tripods I use for precision shooting with arca ball heads on them, and one lives in my truck at all times...
Yes 305/70. On a calculator sure they come out to 34.8. In real life the few 305s out there measure considerably larger. I’ll dig back through and see if I can find pics I took a couple years ago when I replaced mine.
When I say considerably I guess I should clarify. Most are measuring around...
Also with a topper it’ll be sufficient for quick solo weekend trips or trips for just you and the wife. You can sleep inside of it, and still hangout/cool around it. Only throw the tent on when the whole family is going.
Have you ever considered a topper with a RTT? Something like the smart cap that can be set up for camping, and left ready to go. Then mount a RTT on it when ready to go. That way the hard part (gear loading, setup, etc) is done. I could have my RTT on in about 15 minutes when I was running one...
If you’d like a pillow like ride the suspension upgrades will be necessary. Personally I run Carli 2.5” springs up front with air bags in the rear. I’ve got Fox 2.0s right now, and the ride is excellent. However I’ll be switching to Fox 2.5s this weekend or next depending on how much time I...
As other have suggested first thing I’d do is air down. It’ll help, but probably not to the level you’d hope. However it’s free and easy. A larger tire with more rubber than rim will also help. Personally I’d look at 305/75-18. It’s a large 35 whereas a 285/75/18 is a small 18. Realistically...
I’ve got a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old you can borrow 😂
mama bear instinct is a **********. Kids will change her entire perception and outlook on life. My wife was extremely adventurous before hand. Last minute cross country trips to back pack in bear country, Kayaking 20-50 miles with multiple...
Decked in the bed of my 250 with a Lone Peak. I’m 6’0” and can sit on my butt inside, but not sitting on anything with the top down. Had it 7 months now, and overall I’m happy with it.
