Minimum EV Range Requirement for Touring Western U.S.

When my old diesel is due for a rebuild we’ll go EV replacement. If I upgrade the old boat to something new it will be an EV system boat. Or likely buy a modern used boat and swap in the EV system. I just put 5 gallons of diesel in the old boat. Last time I did that was 2018. We sail 2-4 times a...

Trip report- Bikepacking C&O and Gap trail

Oh yeah! Will check this out! Bike packing no doubt has large potential. BTW Tahoe / truckee region is working on a cross Sierras route for horse, bike and hikers. Most of it already exists from old wagon routes. I would expect more old routes to be mapped out and set up for this type of no...

Time for a New Truck--MPG is a Priority

Not to mention turbo feeds mor air at altitude which then means more fuel can be fed. Which means less altitude sickness for turbo stuff vs non turbo. Its a little bit of apple vs Orange. But regarding mileage all the 10spd stuff is going to be more efficient over a mixed use typical owner use...

    F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L vs 5.0L

Given the Maverick does decent work for a mini it’s probably plenty of truck for the lawn mower crowd. Will be interesting to see what happens to the ranger. Its kinda a Orphan now. If you need seats for 4 and basic truck needs with mileage you get the Maverick. If you have light duty hauling...

Minimum EV Range Requirement for Touring Western U.S.

Its a thing due to few charging stations and also inconsistent performance at said chargers. Not really an issue we see at gas stations.

Minimum EV Range Requirement for Touring Western U.S.

EV long range trips refueling is a big part of the trip. ICE vehicle refueling is basically a non Factor unless your driving a fuel pig with a thimble sized tank. Which case most people move on to a better suited vehicle sooner or later. Or tow the piggy with something that has legs/range. Lol

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

Yeah most case priority get driven by public risk/proximity also. Not by size.

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

They have only you need to understand that even prior to legalizing it the Game Wardens (primary enforcement/bust leaders) literally had lists of targets that outnumbered their ability to go in and address them during the preferred time to make the busts. They literally have grows they slate to...

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

No rivers out west where the illegal growers set up. The preferred is small creeks they dam up, pre mix illegal nasty fertilizer junk right into the creek and then gravity feed it down to the grow. We have this issue behind our home in water shed land. But due to the contamination threat to a...

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

Legal sales but untraceable sources created a fantastic high profit market for the illegal growers. Could get really interesting out west with our water situation being seriously bad. Hopefully the resources to go after the illegal stuff get a bump in funding due to water fights lol.

Time for a New Truck--MPG is a Priority

Should see 21-23mpg mild temp commutes and likely 19-21 cold commute wife was running 44 miles each way mild temps in the Fusion Plug in. Awesome car for that. 80,000 mile average is 62mpg? My 3.5 Platinum 3.73 Expedition on stock sized mild A/T 3 peak BFGs easily runs 22-23mpg 65 and under...

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

Lots of work guys in our hood this truck was going for that look, except they obviously were not in a hurry to their job. That was the funny part that caught attention. No details yet, might hear more in a day or so. Our area gets hit by home break ins between 9am-3pm on a regular basis...

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

Walking the dogs at 9am today. Dead end road neighborhood long way from any thru routes. Truck drove by real slow like kinda gave my spider creeper sense a tweak. Couple minutes later a neighbor retired police out walking I mentioned the truck and he said yeah I got the same vibe. He says since...

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

Even 50 yrs ago stopping by a ranger station and checking in and asking about various areas can get you directed to avoid certain places also. Something I highly suggest for people unfamiliar with a region.

How are you guys handling yourselves in strange circumstances off the grid?

On the water last 10 yrs or so you need to be wary of poachers also. They can get jumpy if they think your watching their take. Huge issue up and down the west coast. Really just like anywhere keeping your wits aboutcha and trusting your creeper spider sense and just moving on is best.
