Agree that your requirements are set by the state of registration. That being said, if you are in one of the states that does not require license plates (I believe there are 1-2), you might get to talk with a few officers along the way.
No worries. It has been at least 15 years since I worked in that area, so I really have no suggestions other than look for one of those AG Mechanics. Also maybe hit up a small engine place.
If you decide to take on troubleshooting yourself, there is a pretty good group here that can help...
If you pick up in person and pay cash, things rarely go wrong. I’ve had a couple of great trips to buy stuff on Expo, all the way from Phoenix to Seattle. Good fun and not a scam in sight!
Also try some of the various AG equipment mechanics. Many of them are used to working on undocumented systems and just figuring it out, they are also in slow season now and both hungry and unconcerned about things like liability… it all adds up to “willing to try”.
Sounds like a challenge. Might be fun? What kind of rig? I’m about 70 miles north of Porterville. No promises on skill level, limited generator experience on that little stuff, but could probably help with diagnostics. Do you know if the starter works? I would be willing to guess that you...
I think most of the fridges currently on the market have done a good job balancing insulation volume versus power draw, and with a few simple additions can be made to run reliably off of a single car battery with regular driving or charging.
some considerations:
Give up some interior space to...
To the OP, at 48” height (from your other post) I would stick with square. Easier to build, more space, and tucked well under the height of almost any tow vehicle you will find here.
As long as the wireless switch is working… it sounds like you have it.
when facing similar, and wanting 3 of my circuits to be switchable from the drivers seat or the tailgate, I simply put the switches in the ground side of the circuit. Yes, they are not 3-way, you have to turn them off at...
Also curious if there was any grease in the other side, and if your manufacturer admitted they failed to grease on assembly and spotted you a hub/spindle unit or not?
Just because I happened to still have this thread in mind, I checked temps today. I towed my trailer about 90-100 miles in mixed foothills, some 15 mph hill climbs and some freeway to and from. Midway through, the hubs were 92 on an 80 degree day. After getting home they were still at 92...
LED strip lights or rope lights are cheap and easily adaptable to many mounting configurations. I use them all over, sometimes fishing them through clear vinyl tube.
I don’t have a specific recommendation, but AZ is mining country for sure and your tires will seem small to the right vendors. Maybe hit up the Goodyear website and look at dealers of heavy equipment tires.
“Too hot” isn’t really a specific number, but I would generally be okay with 150 higher than the ambient temp, concerned at 200 higher, and really worried if the paint burned off. Braking adds heat too, so mountains or windy roads you accept a little more. The grease is probably considered...
In my experience, heat and fire do not burn away grease without leaving. A bunch of asphalt-like tar and junk behind.
You can do a home experiment. Try to burn a blob of grease off of something with a blow torch. It won’t go well.
Those bearings do not appear to be greased at all. You had an assembly failure. That should have so much grease paste in it that you can’t identify individual parts. I suspect that if your mechanic wasn’t so great and had actually taken the hub off, you would have seen and prevented this...
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear of a trailer bearing failing and losing a wheel. The defined failure point usually happens long before the wheel comes off. You might have missed the failure, if you were on I80 at presumably high speed, it might have gone quickly to your perception. Did you...
