In typical trailer build fashion, I'm off to a slower start than I planned. I ordered the wood yesterday, but it can't be delivered until next Tuesday. After working on the frame this coming weekend with Wayne The Welder, on Monday I will drive to Sequim to pick up the wheels for the trailer...
Many of you on this forum remember Jess Neal and his epic build of the Sawtooth XL, a trailer of his own design. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/18142-Offroad-Teardrop-SawTooth-XL?highlight=sawtooth Through an inspiring feat of perseverance he built a versatile little trailer...
That is beautiful. What did you use to cut the plastic bumper? I've been noodling something similar, and your rig is the best I've seen so far (Sorry, Grant).
Absolutely awesome! I bet those kids (who are too cute for words) love riding in the Blazer with the sides rolled up! I look forward to seeing this trailer develop.

10 - 22 gauge wiring:
http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/wire_termination <-- Read this website to really understand crimping 10 - 22 gauge wiring.
This reference is invaluable for many reasons, but specifically regarding soldering vs. crimping. After reading all six...
Thank you both for your replies. I'm going to do it right and pull both the + and the - wires.
And I meant to say that the + wire is fused at the battery. I wasn't really clear on that point.
Thanks again.
Before I make a mistake, I thought I should ask those with actual knowledge the following question. If I expand power to the rear of my vehicle, should I pull a ground or common wire to the rear as well? Here is the situation:
I am preparing my 2008 Subaru Outback for some long distance...
May I suggest you look closely at the frame and consider strengthening it where appropriate? Also, make sure the material used in the frame is sufficiently strong to stand up to your intended use. I drug a similar trailer from Fairbanks to Tacoma in 1979 when there was still about 400 miles of...
"Thought you guys migh want to see my new custom steel rear offroad bumper I helped design and had it fabricated by LEadfoot Offroad in Socal. I have a 2 3/8" lift in the rear and when fully loaded down with gear there is no saggy butt. Only brought down 1/8" after bumper was installed. They...
I'm loving that exo-skeleton. A few hinges here, a few hydraulic rams there, an Arduino board, a little code, the thing could walk over to the trailer and attach itself.
Beautiful job, look forward to the rest of the build.
Not sure what that rant is about. You asked for my thoughts about hard bags to Alaska, I gave them to you. RHINO said he thought the KTMs I saw in CA were 690rrs. I went and checked the blog of those guys, and the bikes were 690s. I reported back. I thought they were great bikes, based on...
Thoughts on hard cases to Alaska
It is absolutely a fact that if you ride the Haul Road to Prudhoe, you, your bike, and your gear are going to be filthy. That's one reason I would not ride my own bike on that road, but would rent one so I could just smile when I turned it back in. But to...
@agavelvr, "I wonder if you ask me about my luggage and bike(s) out of genuine curiosity or simply for posturing purposes. If it is for the former, let me know and I'll reply. If it is the latter, I think you need to work on your taunt game before you bring it to my garage "
Well, first of...
I had the Backcountry 35s because of the type of riding I was doing -- thought I needed the extra capacity for a full loadout of camping gear, tools, spare parts. I particularly liked the add-on pouch for carrying the water bladders so I could get their mass low and centered. I liked the MOLLE...
