This has been my experience as well, I have 52K miles on my 2018 PW and I have averaged around 12.5 MPG on 35's. Towing on the other hand I am hovering between 7.5 and 8 for the average.

Is there any plans/consideration for widening the panel? I never use my rear coat hanger, so having a panel that extends over them would not be an issue. It would be nice to have a bit of extra length on either end.

My truck came with a large one piece rubber floor mat for the rear. It might be worth looking into for you, the rear floor sits flat when the seats are folded up, and it does a great job of keeping the carpet under it clean even with two dogs back there.
