    Starlink or Garmin in reach

To me they are similar but not the same at all. My Inreach can sit in my pocket and always be with me in an emergency. My Starlink is great for many things but is not for emergencies. If I fall and break my leg or back out hunting/fishing/camping/etc I’m not going to be breaking out a Starlink...

    Starlink or Garmin in reach

No. They are entirely different devices designed for different purposes. A starlink is not an emergency beacon.

    2022 Hunter Predator Expedition Camper

For $300k I would have expected the build not to look like someone went through the cheap apartment contractor aisle at Home Depot.

What new in new in personal rescue devices

The testing I did with it was in my backyard with both WiFi and cell coverage. Figured turning it off was part of the steps since it asks about it.

What new in new in personal rescue devices

A cell booster would not help, completely different system. Did you have your cell service and WiFi disabled? Pretty sure last time I played with the emergency satellite thing in the phone it made me do that first.

Maybe Don’t Use Your Cybertruck For Towing

Yep, which works great until you’re towing at 1mi/kwh and less. At that point an 0-80% charge in my R1T only provided a 105 mile range, leaving little to no buffer for changes in road or weather conditions and often not enough range to make it from one DCFC to the next. A full charge was often...

Maybe Don’t Use Your Cybertruck For Towing

With my R1T towing it was an hour or more of charging every 120 miles as opposed to a ten minute fuel stop every 350 miles in my diesel. On a long trip that adds up into days of extra time on the road, a big deal if you’re wanting to get somewhere quickly rather than just go slow and enjoy the...

What new in new in personal rescue devices

I’m still using an eight year old Garmin Inreach. Other than some improvements in size (smaller/lighter), faster connection and better battery life it is just as capable of sending/receiving messages as the new devices.

    Driveway leveling ramps

https://a.co/d/iJtshVd If you’re not carrying them to travel the lumber is probably the best solution. Easy, cheap, lasts a long time and no one’s going to be tempted to steal it when you’re not parked on it.

    Driveway leveling ramps

There are tons of commercially available options for leveling a RV like that. They won’t necessarily work any better than the 2x10 solution but they may store better for travel.

Main video camera ideas for overland trips?

I use a Sony A74 that does well at both video and stills, with the right lenses. I typically take a 14mm, a 28-200mm and a 150-600mm with me to cover my uses. A dedicated macro lens would be nice but I’ve gotten by with extension tubes to increase magnification ratio so far.
