The full sized mid-size, my 2014 F150 "Fiddy"

I ran RCI steel skid plates on my 2008 Ranger and was very happy with the product and buying experience, so it was straight back to them when I needed protection for the naked F150 I went aluminum to save weight and not worry about rust. I have the entire kit. Engine, transmission, transfer...

    2016 Chevy Silverado LTZ Z71

3-3.5" lift you would want UCAs and a 1" front dif drop. Friend of mine has the rough country kit, can't remember which UCA he runs. Says the front shocks sucked and were done in 1.5 but you can always pick a different shock later. *Edit* I swear to god if this phone changes dif to did one more...

The full sized mid-size, my 2014 F150 "Fiddy"

Well, we ran the truck through ADESA twice. The truck never bid up past $16700, thought it didn't help the morons listed it as an XL the first run through. Not sure if we'll try selling it privately, or plan to keep it long term. A friend of mine is going to buy the Decked Drawers out of it...

    PSA regarding vehicle service

Never understood the derogatory element of the word technician. I am an HVAC technician, and few things do I hate more than parts changers. I've literally had other "techs" call me with an issue they can't figure out, and I asked "well what's the resistance of circuit x?" For them to reply "well...

    WK2 - Trailhawk vs Laredo e

On the WJ the quadra drive system used front and rear electronic gerotor pump limited slips. The WK2 had rear only ELSD but added brake force traction control as well. It's a shame you need the air suspension and a much higher trim just to get the ELSD in the rear only in the WK2, especially...

    2017 F-150 Family Camping + Hunting Build

Somebody at Ford needs a firm shaking in regards to throttle and shift tuning. Even an off the shelf 87 octane tune helps. Truck is looking good! I'm surprised the larger and heavier tires made so little difference in fuel economy.

    WK2 - Trailhawk vs Laredo e

My wife grabbed a 2019 Altitude, this summer which is a package on a Laredo. Has QT2, leather, small sunroof, some extra features. We specifically didn't want the air suspension. If I was buying one myself, I'm a few frills kind of guy and would spec a Laredo with offroad group 1 to get quadra...

¿What tire size do you wish existed? But does not.

Jadmt here has done a bang up job with tire size discrepancy. I've read a bunch of his posts on the JKU forum as well regarding how different manufacturers listed sizes dont always work out in reality. a BFG KO2 34x10.5-17 is actually larger than a 285/70-R17 Ko2, and similar in size to a...

Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

a tire with the M+S and a tire with the 3PMS marking are not the same. Interesting they suggest they are. I mean, obviously an actual summer only tire won't have the M+S marking, but there are a lot of all seasons with M+S I wouldn't want to drive on in the winter. Frankly, my Ko2 with 3PMS...

Go SCAB F150. 2" coil over lift in front, 255/80R17 or depending on motor/trans/gears 285/75R17. Maybe add a leaf in the rear. Armor up if it doesn't have the OEM skid plates. You really want a fuel tank skid it's like 5 feet of plastic liability lol. Take off the front plastic valence. Lots of...

Parking lots and parkades keep getting tighter for all the subcompacts and mid size sedans nobody is driving anymore lol.

What's real world fuel economy on a Tacoma or 4Runner or Gas Colorado 4x4 when loaded up with gear and people? I hear the gas price argument. It's been over $1 per LITER for regular here for many years. $1.05-1.25 typically and one year it was $1.30+ for most of summer.

Perfect off-highway tire = LTX? What?

I think the key take away here is the pressure you run your tires at in non pavement situations. Glad to hear the craigslist bargain has propelled you on so many adventurous miles! If anything you get extra credit for running street tires on adventures while many MT and aggressive AT only pull...

This is fair, but really how great is fuel economy on a mid size once you add a bunch of weight, mild lift, 33" tires, etc? I don't want to daily drive a stock 3/4 anymore than I want to daily drive a lifted, 33" tired mid size. To the OP, one thing you could consider is a used 2015+ V6 F150...

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

I'd consider a couple year old 6.0.chevy 2500 gasser rather than a new half ton with 5.3 and AFM, and also consider a 6.2 gasser aluminium Super Duty before a max payload/tow 3.5/5.0 F 150 (similar weight to steel half tons) Your fuel economy will suck, but your reliability will be strong. No...

    What Half-Ton Truck & Why

Ok well a shorter truck on stock tires isn't getting much better than your longer wheelbase and thus heavier truck with +2" tires. I'm driving a 3.7 F150 on 34" LTs and am happy to get 16 mpg in town. Best ever has been 19 and change. Full size trucks with big horse power and large heavy...

Using an ice fishing tent for winter camping?

As a rule, when you wake up cold you go check the fire right away, so you don't have to risk starting a new fire. As long as some embers left and you keep some dry kindling ready JIC you get her going again quick, empty the bladder if needed (outdoors) and then warm up by your recently stoked...

Using an ice fishing tent for winter camping?

Pine and spruce also soot the hell out the chimney when its really cold. Typically when we go out we try to bring some better wood with us for over night, plus some dry kindling for starting the fire. Many of the trees around where we winter camp are pine etc. Let us know how it works out for...

Anyone with a Trailmarker trailer yet?

I'd like to check them out in person, as well as Escape Trailers (fiberglass egg style) But alas, I live thousands of kilometers from either.

The full sized mid-size, my 2014 F150 "Fiddy"

Yeah they are MSRP 45+. I can likely get what I want for about $36k. You've got me second guessing myself now though... Plus Ford pulled the leather steering wheel out of the 301a package and put it in the 302a package, the jerks, so I won't get my coveted leather steering wheel in the next...
