    Expoordition 2011 Thread

One fun way you can save money is to post your trip dates and possible camp locations....let some of the find Arizona folks join you for a night here & there and let them cook up some fine camp grub for which you get to enjoy but not have bought :) I would be happy to make that happen if the...

Standing Tub for Camping hot shower?

home improvement stores sell a plastic tray that goes under water heaters...it is shallow enough to transport easily and has a side drain spout which can be hooked up to a drain hose to let the water run off away from the vehicle

    Sliders: Body or Frame mounted

Funny folks say never mount to the body when Land Rover Discovery uses this setup as well as a few other rigs I am sure. I know that on the 11,000 lb Sportsmobile WAVE the SLIDERS that Rock Slide Engineering built for me worked great, supported the wgt & were body mounted using 2 rows of...

SPOT Tracking - worth the $50?

I find it very useful for letting my wife & friends track my trips and it cuts down on the worry & calls home. I like to go solo with just my son & I or maybe with 1 other friend and we prefer areas without cell service. The Spot tracking lets friends & family know where I am and that all is...

Rockslide Engineering Power Step Sliders-New Product

RockSlide Engineering was very generous to donate the prototype set of these to Disabled Explorers for use on the W.A.V.E. (wheelchair accessible van for expeditions) and working with them through the design & construction phase was a breeze. These guys built stuff to be used not just to be...

Found this expedition G on line, not bad

I think it is very reasonable to look at the cost/benefit ratio on this rig.... $100,000 buys alot I really was impressed with Tom Shepards counterpoint on the new Ent. G and it makes me look at an older model vs this new one.

Are they as good as they say?

I would be really suprised to learn that this was the FIRST crossing or such trip on the Canning Stock Route as I have been reading about it for a long time. Doesn't bode well for any plans to promote the G-wagen in Oz as they love hard core trucks

OzWagon goes cool & silent - Sound Deadening & Insulation

I have been very very happy with the triple layer setup we did. The paint on stuff with the ceramic beads made a difference especially for how light it is and easy to apply. Adding the fatmat helped with the low freq vibrations off road and then the alum coated bubble wrap gave me another good...

What is wrong with this picture? - warning, possibly offensive content

sure we could get all serious and talk about how he needs to both lighten his gear load and upgrade his springs... but in the end I gotta agree with the majority here and say that at least he is getting out of town instead of playing on a forum...

    Hannibal Awnings

I have really been trying to resist the urge to have a roof rack on the 75 series Troopie but man if anything was going to push me over the edge it would be a chance to have Hannibal awnings again. This weekend I camped with the current owner of my old Hannibal and it completely sucked to be...

On our way across Tibet...Land Cruiser 80 series...axel question.

Ok time for a stupid question... I have full floating rear axles in my 75 series with a manual trans...since I don't have a center diff lock & only a limited slip in the rear what would happen if I broke a rear axle & removed it? Is this a really good excuse to upgrade to lockers front & rear...

    Best truck for the Apocalypse?

funny how on every forum or campfire where this question comes up no one ever guess my suggestion... an old tractor think about how you can burn almost any fuel/oil/veggie matter, low gears to get around or push the junk laying in your way, easy to pull a trailer or go off the road, super easy...
