If you want the Cummins get it in a 3500 with the Aisin transmission IT IS worth the extra $$. If the nicer ride of the rear coils on the 2500 is more important, get it with a Hemi so the payload # are better. Having had both engines I think you will be happy with either one.

That is one solution. By the time we would be installing the camper the Ram will be our only vehicle so would have to either rent a car or buy a temporary POS vehicle to use. Also would like to be there for the install and they like to do a walk through with the new owner.

I'am sending them a rough drawing of what I would like in a popup camper and they will let me know if they can do it. Not looking to do anything weird so should be able to come up with something that will work.

It's not just the engine that needs to get good and hot, on the newer diesels the exhaust has to get hot as well or the catalytic converter will plug up and need to be replaced you don't want to know how much those cost. Nothing special for camper. Our planned popup camper is a FWC Hawk slide in shell model to help keep cost down. I would of liked to have a flatbed model FWC Hawk but they don't offer a shell version and they start out at $25K which did not fit in our budget for this project.
