I wanted to post a condensed version of my long DIY thread about building my camper. Here's the short version. A link to the long version is in my signature at the bottom.
I just hit 20,000 miles with my 2020 Gladiator. Running strong. When I first bought it, I had the dealer change out the aluminum steering box with a cast iron one. There was a bit of shimmy in the steering and this fixed it.
Here's a cheaper hitch mount option at $2400. I actually like that I don't have to get rid of my back bumper with this, but am a bit worried about all that weight bouncing around and just supported by my hitch.
Thanks. I'd like to move my water to the bumper one of these days and I'm still running with an undersized spare tire under the bed. I want to do a bumper mount water/full size spare tire, but it's out of my budget for now (~$4,000 US). Maybe next year.
Good points, and I definitely like others advice. The black tank pictured is actually my Scepter fresh water tank and I'm currently draining gray water to ground. I have room next to this tank for a gray tank. If I add one, I like your idea of being able to see the level.
This video makes me wish I kept my 40th anniversary Landcruiser pictured below. I love my Gladiator, but my old Landcruiser was unstoppable and is still my all time favorite 4 wheel drive.
It would have been nice to convert to an overloading vehicle. I've seen a couple roof conversions on...
Subject: Outdoor Overlanding Pants and Underwear for camping, hunting, hiking, and mountain biking.
I've been a little frustrated with my Mountain Biking clothes lately. My summer gear is good as I wear shorts, dirt bike jersey and protective equipment. It's a bit harder in the winter to...
There are too many cooking options for the interior! I like the idea of an induction burner or small microwave, which aren't very expensive, but I need a big investment in my electric power supply. I currently only have 400watt capacity at 120 volt.
Here are some ideas I've looked at.
Well, there's one big thing left in my camper build and that's something to cook on inside. Let's see your setups and hear what you like and dislike. Some options are:
Inside
Small Butane stoves
Small Propane stoves (bottles)
Built in Propane stoves (tanks)
Electric stove
Induction stoves
700...
No rock clawing yet, but have about a thousand miles on it. Mostly road and a bit of 4 wheeling. Crossed a few 2 ft ditches and she’s holding up fine. She flexes at the door and sunroof joints a bit.
Over the river and through the woods to Grandmothers house we go (Thanksgiving). I used to drive across this as a kid. Now as one of the only remaining covered bridges left in Missouri, it’s blocked off as a historic site.
