Thoughts on the Truckhouse Tacoma expedition camper...

Tacoma with huge turtle shell bolted to it will be about 120miles between gas stations?? 25yrs of Toyota’s including a sweet J80 and a 07 Sequoia. That 3.4L Camry V6 must be slow as a turtle and being wound out like meth head to just keep up with speed limits??

    Tie down / mounting thoughts

Generally you want camper ties down low close to the floor structure. Those in the picture are pulling on structure with lousy support and are way too high up etc.

    My 5x8 v nose build

My parents old Alaskan had plain old glass in the windows. One was even cracked for the entire 10 yrs we had it lol. Yeah shards are worse than little cubes. But I don’t think broken windows are that big of an issue. Plus if your knowingly going to use it where windows could get hit by debris? A...

2008 GMC 3500 4x4 diesel security lock out........ UPDATED

Not GM specific but have seen cheap hardware store copied / chipped keys do similar things. 4 friends different vehicles all experienced near identical type of security system issues using the cheap hardware store chipped keys. 1 Subaru, 1 Porsche, 1 Toyota, one GMC.

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

As mentioned the speed at which they are changing makes a bike just a few yrs old obsolete regarding parts. I think the true ebike ie assisted are pretty awesome. The e motor bikes are just development toys that are outdated in just a few months. $3000 for a machine with a 6 month model life...

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

TFL F150 Hybrid 5likes 5 hates he showed mixed use average of 26mpg for a 1700lb payload 10,000 tow rated truck. Toyota has over a decade of lost development time to overcome to get competitive again.

Most just get bent and have funny tire wear and track odd going down the road, get drive line issues etc. Very few ever fold up like a taco. Which is why steel frames are preferred over aluminum given bending is preferable over total sudden failure aka aluminum. So why are so many trucks run...

    Roof Rack Design Considerations

Most drivers who think Jeeps are great. Also think wallowing crap driving dynamics are the norm. Not the exception. Heck the trend from sedans to SUVs makes 98% of all US vehicle buyers think wallowing crap handling is preferable to crisp well sorted handling lol

Are talking Indiana gravy and deep fried pigs ears for breakfast owners or are talking Southern California gym rat / part time TV career dreamer? If option 1? 1-2 passengers and about 800lbs of gear. Option 2? 1-2 passengers and 1200lbs in gear?? No really seriously Also people confuse max...

Is an F250 6.2 V8 Gas Reliable Enough?

Yep Cracked manifold Toyota’s get those when driven hard in hot temps. The Landcruiser 4.7 and the sequoia/ Tundra both have this issue and it only surfaces when those vehicles are absolutely hammered on like 75+mph across Texas in 100 degree heat etc. Even the old bullet proof R22 suffered...

    2021 F150 vs F250

This is the original baja type camper. Still pretty respected typically not on the whats hot and sexy list but I usually see that as a positive thing https://capricamper.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw-NaJBhDsARIsAAja6dPUoolizldGi_PwWMDuCoed8mHZDn4nRiQdBzxXYqREwZtTFWM9Z0UaAsX6EALw_wcB

    2021 F150 vs F250

Alaskan’s are nice. Pretty much built the same way they were in the 60’s and 70’s. My dad had a non over cab Alaskan in the 70’s. It was heavy then lol. I recall the wood roof structure eventually was trash after yrs of road vibration and few snow loads events. I would probably give used ones...

    2021 F150 vs F250

F150 gets the standard steering rack vs pitman style in the 250 and up. The 150 is a Nicer driver for sure over the 250 and up. But as pointed out if you really need the load capacity the 250 wins. Neighbor runs his heavy pack F150 crew cab 6ft bed with fwc 100% stock full time fwc his hunting...
