Hiya
Maybe a small 12/24v bilge pump in the shower tray, one of those flat round rubbery camping universal sink plugs to keep some water in once you're clean (because traps for showers don't come with plugs, sink traps need more space under the tray otherwise a commercial sink trap with one of...
Hi
We previously used a small portable but mains powered washing machine, twin tub, top loading. The hardest thing about that was getting the soap out again which used a huge amount of water. The best thing was once that had been achieved the spinner was worth it's weight in gold.
You could...
Hiya,
I'll again suggest buying Ulrich Dolde's book on how he did his own self build, as well as the follow up research he then did to help others follow a similar path. Available on Amazon for instance
ISBN-10: 3981855310
ISBN-13: 978-3981855319
or from his own website even just as a...
Hi. Why not drop a section of the camper insulated floor within the chassis rails, create a kind of sump from insulated materials the same as the camper, then get a grey tank made to fit whatever size and shape you can get to fit?
Positioned close to the pivot between subframe and chassis there...
Since we always managed to get ourselves out maybe that doesn't really count as stuck at all? So a bit stuck seems reasonable? :)
Recovery gear seems less regulated with regard to definite minimum breaking strain than lifting gear. I've two types of lifting strop, one is a sling formed by many...
Personally, having read on Billavista how much of a pull is needed if a vehicle is sitting on the chassis combined with maybe uphill too, and the occasional You Tube video of a big truck winching trees out of the ground instead of self recovering, I don't think as a solo vehicle bigger than...
Hi
We had sticky backed velcro on window surrounds, then non sticky velcro strip sewn onto the noseeum cut to window frame size. Don't try the sticky backed stuff in a sewing machine though, that's a nasty mess!
We started out with a 7500kg gross U1300l with 14.5s, then changed to the 11500kg gross U1700 on 395s with the same camper having discovered how heavy it was. The difference in tyre size is massive. Equally, brake size between the two Mogs was equally marked.
I can't remember how much the...
Hi
I had 395's on my U1700 which were lovely.
10"x20" wheels are fine for those or 14.00's. Neither particularly want to seal on the bead when you change the tyres though if you get to that. No tubes required. Split rims mean you can fit fairly easily yourself.
395s and 14's were, I believe...
Hi
Glad you got it going.
As well as filling the filter housing with fuel, you can also leave the new filter itself soaking in diesel. Previously I had one paper filter and one felt but both benefited from a soak to get the air bubbles out before fitting. Probably not necessary but might help at...
giantiger do you mean you have not tightened the fuel filter to get it to seal? So diesel is leaking out and air in? Maybe you cross threaded the fixing bolt?
Doka mog camper with French family of five, quite a squash but they travelled a long time and a long way :) I think followed warm weather so they could mostly live and eat outside.

But a truck with no bonnet/hood does make the most of chassis length for the camper.
Hiya
A friend of mine hasn't used any soap products since he was a kid, I've known him about 35 years and he does not smell! (Although I would think after a grease monkey session he must use soap, I don't pay that much attention!) Partly inspired by him I stopped using shampoo two years ago and...

Hi
Having had some experience in smaller 4x4's, then lucky enough to live in a Unimog camper for a few years I decided when our family grew to three and a dog we would have an all wheel drive camper big enough to have three permanent beds. We'll go where ever we'll fit :)
Hi
Do you have no insulation inside between the camper skeleton frame and the internal wall sheets? You may get lines of condensation where the metal sections butt up on the internal surface, and then mold perhaps? A second insulation layer with joins in different places would stop that...
I know a 12v panel is much more in reality. What I need to check is why the MPPT says 36v input is ok. If my 12v panels do have for instance a 20v max then the MPPT might quote a figure closer to 20v rather than the slightly odd exact figure of 36v. And a fitter suggested I connect three 12v...
