    Lowly the Lorry. . .

Wow, forget the 'expo build'. With all those cool, shelves, slideouts, steps, platforms, and racks, I expect to see that BRT (Big Red Truck) at the farmer market sell organic honey, beeswax candles, hemp clothing, various beads and bangles. It will put those hippy-vans to shame. Don't forget to...

    Mercedes 1926 cab comversion

That seems like it would be a huge project. And the 19-ton frame is probably way more than you would ever get close to using (although the 240 hp is great). I don't know how hard importing into Andorra is, but there are many DOKA (dreifachkabine) firetrucks for sale in German with that low of...

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

Wow, it sure seems like Canada is very accommodating with importation, registration, and insurance. How nice! Canada might be different, but 'Fire trucks' have no duty charge when imported into the USA. You might want to check if the Great White North is the same.

Isolating Vibrations from chassis through subframe to camper box

I believe that all the subframes are designed to mitigate the twisting or flexing of the truck's frame being transferred to the camper (box). To isolate the vibrations, it would probably be easiest to start with the truck's suspension (very hard on a heavyweight like a 1088), or perhaps adding...

    WTB: Torsion-free sub-frame for lmtv m1078/1079

You might try contacting Quade, pnwginger on the expo forum ( http://forum.expeditionportal.com/members/157802-pnwginger ) he built an unbelievable subframe for his truck. He sells the plans or you might be able to get him to build one for you. He is in the PNW, so not too far from NorCal. His...

    MB trucks info needed

See below. I am a new owner, so take the info with a reasonable amount of doubt. The info below is related to the NG series since you mentioned '1017' The LK series is the 'older series' of trucks (round nose) (pre-dates the 1017, but production overlaps) Model designations are the first 1 or 2...

    Mercedes gearbox settings

I'm glad you have it working now. According to the 'Operating Instructions' for the 1017,1217,1417,1617 (PN#380 584 01 96) that selector is for the VG500-3W transfer case. If the truck is NOT equipped with differential lock(s) then in position 1, it is 2x4. When position 3 is selected you get...

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

I looked up Lowly the Lorry's VIN on both the EPC and WIS and it came up on both. I did not see any 'dates', but I am a very new using those programs. Any tips as to finding the date would be appreciated.

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

Well, I am sure these are usually done on Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwings and such, but perhaps worth a try? Heck just to give Hans in the research department a 'Was zur Hölle ist los' moment might be worth it. It does say "any Mercedes-Benz, new or old" The Mercedes-Benz Classic Center has...

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

Congratulations! I just bought a 1017AF (I cheated and took the easy way as it was only 35 miles from my house and already had been converted to super singles), so I'll be watching your progress. It is nice yours is a newer model with much more power. And it is GREAT that it has the winch! I...

    FGs for sale

WAG, but a pto (and SWB) would make me think it spent some of its life as a plow or dump truck. They aren't making anymore pre-2007s, so it is getting harder and harder to be picky when it comes to FGs.

    FGs for sale

No problems there. All the major vendors, ATW, EC, Alan have the 5-lug version. When you go to order lugnuts (if you don't order them with the wheels), be advised that the 6-lug and 5-lug use different size nuts. It looks like it might have a PTO and does, or did have a winch?

    LMTV 1078 Camper build concept

I have one of the AHT L-AL/AL all aluminum liftgates. One word - Awesome! All aluminum, so about 60% lighter than steel, but it still has a 2000+ pound load rating. It also is powered in both the horizontal and vertical planes, so you can mount your heavy spare wheels to it, stored in the...

Reduced Price: 110K - Expedition Vehicle for sale - Trucky McTruckface

I've seen Quade's truck in person and it is absolutely gorgeous. It looks much better than a new truck IMO. Only 4500 miles and overhauled during those miles! Quade's workmanship is out of this world. All of his welds are 'roll of nickels' quality. He is a true master (not a weld and grind it to...
