Ok I am glad you are leading the charge here. I was about to order a set of NOS seats from an International MXT. Now it looks like I will stick with the originals. But did you checkout the Bostrom FRED option. They have a refurbish kit you can get for around $200 ea. And you know the seat is...
I will be following this thread with interest as this is how we intend to do our travel as well.
From our investigations one of the difficulties will be storing the truck and leaving the country. Depending on the TVI (Temporary Vehicle Import) duration for each country you may need to put the...
Thanks for the tip on the cup holders. Saved me a few bucks. Also finding out one set of interior light is switched by the back door saved me some investigation time. Keep up the good work :)
8mpg is due to the this thing being slow off the line and pushing a lot of rubber. Currently I have changed the gearing considerably (current tire diameter is 1.48 x the supplied tires and 1.3 x specified tires for this unit). Currently I am checking options for final drive gearing with the holy...
Having had poptop sportsmobile, ford E450 ambo, Ford EB E350 diesel 4wd and now a medium duty Freightliner Ambo I can probably add a few items for you to think about.
For your requirements I would suggest a medium duty vehicle (Freightliner, C4500 etc). The E350/E450 based ambo's are at the...
While I am sure you can spend this sort of cash getting someone to do a custom build you can also do it more frugally. I am on my second build. The first was a 4WD 1998 converted, painted and on 19.5 singles and I sold it for less than 20K. This build is a little larger but I still expect to...
A RTT is the big boys equivalent of a tree house on wheels. Who wouldn't like that.
But we had one for over 30 years (And it is still going). Sadly time marches on and the bladder dictated a different approach to camping. Climbing up and down all night to take a leak sucks.
A cheap throw down...
Just make sure it is not a nickel based anti-seize. Galvanic corrosion. I made that mistake once on a boat (stainless into aluminum using anti-seize) and we ended up having to steer a 200hp motor with fishing poles, belts and clothing to get back to shore.
We have had success with using the jack knife sofa's from these guys. They make them in a range of lengths and it is fairly easy to cut up the base they provide to fit over the wheel well of the Ambo. The only issue I had with the latest one is that it is about 6" higher than I would of liked...

Yep I think I have to agree with you on one part of your statement. The bit about being an ******** :shakin: :). But I don't agree with the other bit!
Planning 5 weeks out in a 20 week period and asking a learned community like ExPo for advice is planning for the situation IMHO. Do you have any...
