    Lowly the Lorry. . .

I've been compiling notes for my build and when I just went back to look to see if I had anything around this, I found this note. But I don't remember the source of the info! "Your house must be no wider than 2.5 meters, no higher than 4.5 meters and the rear overhang must not be more than 60%...

    Layout dilemma....

Not that I'm qualified to even comment, but I would eliminate the overhead storage as well. Some rigs I've seen are a little claustrophobic, love your big windows! If you could raise the platform a little could you have shallow storage under there? I wonder if you could utilize the corners...

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

I think you're on target about the disk brakes, with the potential for more speed, given the weight of the bike/rider combo going down hill, in the wet, etc. I did a century this year with some significant down hill sections (with curve's!), I hit 40mph. That doesn't sound fast, but I assure...

    Mercedes Overland Building/Tuning

Minor update. There was a slight delay (covid case that prevented Mog-Tech from getting the truck) But they have it now and the hot-rodding of the engine has begun. I was informed by Terra-Exp we have 2 potential ship dates, 12/10 or 12/27. Then there's the boat ride, port clearance, etc...

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

That's a thought, perhaps a tandem bike with a motor? The Honda has had pretty good reviews, but I don't know how well it would handle 2up.

    Rail on rail spring sizing

My plan was to measure how much flex there is in the frame by raising various wheels, to get an idea of how much travel I may be dealing with. This would help with sizing the the springs. Next step would be getting a weight for the fully loaded habitat. Then knowing these parameters, use a...

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

I don't know if I was the culprit for the '2up' confusion , but I was describing having an E-bike and a motorcycle for various purposes, 2up was referring to the motorcycle. This is the common term for 2 people on a motorcycle. I fabricated my own bike rack for my car and will no doubt...

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

You can do it! and it's even more important as you get older (I'm an old dude too) It's tough, but I lost 36lbs cycling. I started with a cheaper bike, and as I got fitter/faster, I upgraded. But I'm very aware it's the rider not the bike. ANY bike is good, just get out there and ride! But I...

    Rail on rail spring sizing

I'll probably be doing the rail on rail/spring subframe as well. At Expo East, I met a guy who used this: https://www.acxesspring.com/spring-calculator.html To choose springs. I'm not there yet, but perhaps this may help.

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

Ha! The pedals on my Cervelo were $700 (dual power meters) But, like anything, if you're into something, you spend the money. If you don't ride that much then it doesn't make sense to spend the $$. Part of my overlanding plan is indeed riding a lot, to stay in shape and explore where the 10...

E-bike or motorcycle for secondary vehicle

I'm planning the same thing, I'm going with a motorcycle and an e-bike. I do like the idea of buying a quality mountain bike and adding my own motor. I'm a road cyclist (typically 2k miles yr.) and am picky about my bikes. Although it will probably cost more that way, you don't want to know...

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

I've done my share of welding, but never on such a large scale. I didn't think that thickness of steel would distort that much!? When doing blacksmithing, I reheat and straighten a warped piece. But that is typically on knives, not sure if you could apply heat and then pull back into line...
