By my experience, the larger nubs from some of the other brands tend to just rip off anyway the first time you spin on them. You can try to avoid spinning all you want, but it does happen. Maybe the smaller bumps will maintain better?
Howard,
Your responses came through brilliantly. For some reason I thought we had crossed paths on the SMB forum some years ago. In any respect, thanks for the reply and looking forward the PM response as well (no rush obviously). We are making our plans for summer trips to the various...
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the data. Always helpful. For the record, my weight concerns are not driven from a GVWR perspective, since as you mentioned you would have load up quite a lot to reach it, but rather a performance/weight trade off perspective. Based on the data and inferred comments...
Thanks for the comparison MOG. We are looking forward to experiencing one to get a first hand understanding so the relative comparisons and model years are helpful for expectation level setting. Given your screenname, and since we are looking into all platform vehicle options; do you care to...
Good comparison. Do you have a sense for the comparative weight of your rig vs. a "typical" EC? Do you even consider it as a key factor? The reason for the fixation on relative road-worthiness is that while I would bet that Australian adventures consist of 20% pavement and 80%...
Howard,
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. If memory serves, you "upgraded" from a SMB van also so your insight is especially helpful.
Your comments confirm some of our suspicions and give us other things to consider that we might not have thought about.
Have you had to do any repairs or...
Howard,
In an effort to revive this, I have enjoyed your post (below) and a great many other posts of yours expounding on your EC and the process you followed to make your decision. My wife and I are embarking on a similar task of deciding and planning our next (and likely last) vehicle.
I...
I totally appreciate your responses and willingness to provide answers on this forum. It is to be commended.
For the record, I am indeed more height challenged than that and I totally understand that is my issue and any disqualification is not a reflection of any meaningful inadequacy of...
Great pics, looking to find out more. Do you have any spec sheets on the FX? There were some things on the exp that disqualified it for our uses but the new layout might work.
Thanks in advance.
I see the fx is a fixed top only? If thatsthe case, unfortunately it will still not work...
Hi Michele. Thanks for pointing that out. Its a good idea for sure. In an effort to not hijack this thread about the Phoenix (which looks cool btw) I will jump on the EC thread to ask a series of questions I can't seem to find on your website.
