I pretty much kind of just started pulling things apart. I did read at some point on Facebook that the sliding window assemblies are just pushed out from the inside. It’s definitely easier if it’s been in the sun for awhile. One side was warmer and much easier than the shaded side. Then I just...
That does look pretty cool and definitely unique. I just don’t think a 4runner on 31s can pull off that look. It needs to be more buggy than mine is at that point.
4runner is dialed in. Freshly cleaned interior and I also installed some new lights and bussman ATC fuse block. The P.O. never fused the stereo or anything in so this feels good to get done.
Pretty cool. If a fuse pops it illuminates an LED making it very easy to diagnose possible issues...
Last Friday, I tore into the hubs and regreased the bearings. It was pretty wild seeing the original paint marks where everything had been originally lined up and finding clean gold grease inside. I also changed the fluids in the diffs.
Bhicks machined b pillar badges looking so fresh. I...
Ah I didn’t even think of Gummi Pflege on the rubber. I actually have some of that for the plastic end caps on my front bumper. I still need to figure out something for the felt runs that go between the sliding windows on the center bar. I probably will just forgo tint.
Hahaha I’ve got 6 or 7...
Does anyone know where to source new sliding window seals for the bar that goes between them in the center? The ones that have been facing the sun are hard as a rock and I worry about them scratching the tint to the point where I probably shouldn’t tint them.
I’m currently right in the...
I’m getting ready to move to Kansas City for a summer internship so I have been addressing some things that have needed attention.
First off, my driver’s rear air bag stopped holding air. Turns out the line got slightly kinked just below the bag. I trimmed about 1cm off of it and it’s holding...
Yeah having the 4runner has been so clutch. It’s still annoying regardless but at least in the grand scheme of things, nothing has been too severe like what you’ve experienced with your Dodge. Lately I’ve been realizing how spoiled I’ve been having been around cruisers. Really a couple...
Stressful weekend working on the cruiser. My dad had started putting some stuff back on during his free time in the evenings. I got into town Thursday evening and we set to work getting it so that we could begin tightening the female threaded crank bolt down. Friday morning, I set to work...
Installed a new radiator, thermostat, and radiator hoses this weekend. Temp gauge is lower than its ever been and it’s been running great. I drove it about 450 miles this weekend, slept in the back, and raced mountain bikes in Ponca City. All while getting 16-17 mpg doing 75.
“Quality that...
Did you remove your dash pad material completely or just flock over everything? My concern is how lifted off the metal base my dash is and I really need to get rid of the cracked vinyl and foam underneath.
My dad and I knocked out some solid work on my 4runner and cruiser this weekend. I’ve got the cruiser torn down enough that it will probably need another day of work before it will be road worthy again. The 4runner now just needs the fluid changed in the transmission, transfer case, and diffs. I...
Yeah that’s a good idea. I’ve seen some on amazon for around $100, but I’m not even sure one would fit over this dash with how dried out and cracked it is. In my mind it seems simple enough to recover, but that’s how all of my projects start out so I appreciate your insight on that process being...
Ah makes sense. A couple one off swaps here and there for whatever reason. I prefer the squared and blocky dash in the first gen to the smoother 90s designs. All things considered, it would probably just be easier to make a mold of my current dash, smooth it out, and then build a new foam top...
Interesting. I wasn’t aware that was a swap people were doing. Seeing some pics of some late 80s early 90s 70 series interiors and dashes has had me dreaming. Unfortunately, all parts are probably harder finding than a new first gen dash. No way an LHD 70 would ever be wrecked and in a local...
Last Thursday I picked up version 3 of my quarter panel cover and a tailgate cover. Both need one more round of revisions until they’re perfect. I also painted my rollbar bronze a couple weeks back to match my wheels.
I just found out I’ll be working in Kansas City all summer so I need a way...
My dad did the desmog long before I ever worked on this cruiser so I can’t really give you a solid answer. Most of it was left hooked up, but blocked off or with lines capped/plugged. Searching 3FE desmog on good will pull up some informative threads.
Yeah that turned out to be the case. My dad jb welded the pulley on one evening and that stopped all noise. Obviously it is still getting replaced since it is out of balance but now it can at least limp in and out of the garage. If the main bearings had been done, this motor would have been...
I tossed some dirty LX450 wheels in the back and ruined the carpet with grease. New carpet is now something I will probably be ordering in the next week. I just can’t decide if I want black or dark gray.
Black seems like it could be too much and would show every spec of grass etc. it would...
