Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

Finally got around to editing part 3 of the engine rebuild video, this time with a voice over as I was too lazy to do all the captions

Pulling over onto the shoulder - one thing we hate doing.

Good new is that they are back on the road again - They also realised that leaving the truck upside down would be a problem, so they pulled the injectors and turned it over to get the oil out. Overall, not that much damage.

Pulling over onto the shoulder - one thing we hate doing.

I will keep an eye on their blog, and hopefully they get it upright and back on their adventure again.

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

We are heading down to a place called No, 2 Rocks - Near Lake Bonny over Easter, about halfway to Adelaide only. If you feel like a trip, let me know, our campsite is big enough for two trucks. It is a long river, around 2500km long. It is was our first time up there, but it was a great...

Pulling over onto the shoulder - one thing we hate doing.

This give a better view of the angle. The road was narrow, and they pulled over to let other cars past. YOu can see the tyre track on the right of how far off the compacted surface they were.

Pulling over onto the shoulder - one thing we hate doing.

I saw this on another site, the couple pulled over onto the side of the road to let other vehicles pass, and then the ground gave way beneath them. It is one of our fears as well, I know how soft the shoulders on roads are, they are seldom compacted and act as a drain, add to water and you...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

We bought a gimbal for our GoPro, and it works very well. This is just a short clip on a track next to the Murray River taken in the cab of our truck. Trish has started a Youtube Channel for our videos, we will be adding lots more of the next few weeks. Unimog Adventures

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

We have had a few trips out in the mog, nothing big but we spent last weekend down on the Murray River, found a great spot and woke up to this The road was not that bad, had a few dry mud holes with pretty deep ruts but nothing that would stop a mog, probably why we were able to have this...

    Norwegian Unimog U1700L camper build

Looks great, it is worth getting the right components for your build, then you won't have to build it again in the future.

    Truck seats

We fitted some Range Rover leather seat into our truck. We found them very comfortable until it started to get hot, then wearing shorts made it quite hot and sticky. We fitted sheepskin seat covers and that was better, but I found the seatcovers made the seat a bit uncomfortable o longer...

Unimogadventures - Our build and travel thread

All the cameras are working great. They are set up on top of the branch bars, so they show the top corner of the truck as well as the side view. The housings have taken quite a few hits from branches, and have survived. I set them up so I could see if we were going to hit any branches...

    New Mog Life

HI Jose, if the previous owner had imported it as a 4x4, would you still have to put all the under-run protection on?

    Jim the Truck - a mercedes 1823

We found the same problem when looking for a house in Melbourne, eventually found a house where we could park the truck next to the house. Having an truck does make things difficult some time :)

Unimog 435 1700L 10 stud rims info (ex Australian ADF)

The ex-ADF Unimog wheels studs are shorter than the normal Unimog wheel studs. Not sure why, maybe weight saving :)
