Unimog 435 1700L 10 stud rims info (ex Australian ADF)

You will probably find it is cheaper to get them from Mog Central or Unidan here in Australia, they buy them with the 395/85R20s by the container load, so the transport costs are shared over 40 or 50 wheels. No matter what, you will still be up for the import duties, GST, port fees, etc etc...

    New Mog Life

If you wonder about the resale, then you should not customise anything. I have never had a standard car, I always make whichever anything I own "mine", why put up with the design compromises the manufacturers make to try and sell them to as wide a market as possible. Your truck looks great...

    Plumbing

I used the John Guest plastic system, easy to fit, and no leaks after 2 years of use on some very rough roads. I used the proper fitting, including the internal inserts and the clips on the collars to stop them vibrating loose when not pressurised.

Can you show where you want to fix them? The rear cross member is OK to drill, but if you want to fix them to the sides, then just drill holes in the side of the chassis. If it is in a part of the chassis that flexes, then you need one fixed mount and one pivot mount, or it will bend the...

Just one thing to what is not drilling too many holes in the bottom flange of the chassis, my "Unimog Body Builder Manual" says not do drill holes there, but on the vertical face and to keep the holes at least 25mm from the top or bottom flange. How does the bracket handle the rocking, is there...

    Air Suspension Seats

Air seats are going to cost a fair bit - around $2K per side as a minimum. Unless you get OEM Unimog air seats, you will need ones with integrated seat belts, and then you need to build stronger seat mounts. The OEM seat belt mounts include the thick steel bar across the back with the which...

    Mattresses

We got an IKEA latex mattress on a slatted base, the bed is more comfortable than the one in our house. If you are living in your truck not just camping for a weekend, get the best bed you can, and make sure you have headroom over it, after all it is used for more than just sleeping :)

The cab on mine would be the same height as yours, however the entrance to camper box is lower than yours, so we can have a full height door and shower at the entrance. This what it looked like during construction, you can see the floor and the step down into the shower area. As we have...

The stairs look great, do they flex when you climb them? They would make it a lot easier to climb in, can they handle different heights, uneven ground, or sand on the beach? My ones require a reasonable level of fitness, having the drop down for the shower reduces the height to something...

    New Mog Life

I have had bigger ones in my truck, with four latches and have had no problems with the catches or dust leaks even on the rear windows. I have heard people wondering about security with these windows, mine are 2m off the ground and anyone will need a ladder to get close

    Is a Unimog for me?

I have often wondered about using the John Deere Corn Head Grease in place of gear oil. I have a few tubes of i stored in the in case I ever have a problem with seals. The grease is supposed to thin to a high quality gear oil Best thing about it is you can put more than 500ml into the...

    Is a Unimog for me?

I always find it strange when people in the US say that it is suicidal to drive at 55mph, maybe in a tiny Toyota Yaris or Smart car, but a mog is a big truck compared to even the SUVs you guys drive and weighs 6-7tons. I guarantee everyone will see you, especially if you have a camper on the...

I always use the same method, filling it until I can see the fuel at the bottom of the filler tube. I can just see the level when the nozzle is halfway in and it normally within 5 litres after the auto shut off clicks on the filler nozzle. My Sat Nav has a function that allows me to put in...

    Is a Unimog for me?

Most places in the world limit the speed of trucks to around 100kph/60mph. That is fast enough for me and we have some big distances between towns over here, once you get into the Outback, 300km seems to be the average. When MB rate things they do it properly, so if they rate it at 125kph at...

    Is a Unimog for me?

I don't understand why people insist that mogs are slow. The fire truck versions of U1300 with the super fast axles run at 120kph, and MB would not sell them like that if there was a problem with running at that speed. I know of plenty of mogs that cruise at 95-100kph, mine has been doing that...
