I wouldn't mind making another bumper, but it is a costly adventure! I have about 40 hours and $400 in steel into mine. I know I could cut both of those figures down some on a second go round, but I would have to charge over $1000 to make it worth my time and effort. I haven't decided on what I...
Thanks man, the body line and the paint line are not parallel to the road. They both angle up at the back which made it tricky getting the cut straight and level. I am pretty happy with how it turned out, but I would do some things different if I made another one.
Exploring Mt. Pilchuck this weekend
Not too much to report lately, I've made a new shift knob and that's about it. I am still waiting for a set of tires to pop up when i have the cash set aside, but something else always seems to pop up that we need more. We did however take a nice trip up to...
Redthies, I have always admired your old f350. Honestly one of the biggest reasons I am going with 37" tires is cost. I was quoted $800 shipped for five wangler MTRs (the new style) with 90% tread. That is less than the price I paid for four of the same tires in 245/75/16 a few years ago. I also...
I got a chance to work on the truck this weekend. I put the wheels that I will mount the 37" tires on to see how the offsets will work and to get an idea how much wider the new tires will be than the current 265/75/16s. I plan on bead blasting them and painting them a dark gray as well to match...
I spent several hours yesterday with a grinder smoothing out all the welds and then painting the bumper. We have had such sporadic weather here lately you really have to take advantage of some sun when you get it. I'm glad I did as it rained a bunch today and I couldn't take looking at it all...
Go for it, I can't claim to be the first to use that idea, though I did source my pull pins from McMaster carr and not TMR customs where I first saw them. TMR wanted $2 more per pin and shipping alone would have been $20 for just two pin assemblies!
I wish I would have thought of something...
I took a few more pictures of the bumper today, I need to finish grinding this thing and get some paint on it.
For a closure I used a 5/8-18 bolt that I welded a socket to so that all I needed to remove it was a breaker bar. I didn't like the idea of having a t-handle hanging out there all...
Thanks, it is not as nice as many on here are capable of but it will do the trick!
It was a two year only option on the OBS F series. '96 and '97 so they can be hard to find. The only down side is the D50 ttb
Luckily I have a D60 sitting in my garage!
Thanks, if I were making another one...
Then I started the side protection
After this part I stopped taking as many pictures and just started building....
the latch for the tire carrier
the swing out...
the hold open latch
I have spent the last few weeks building a rear bumper from scratch. After many hours of searching every thread I could find on both OBS specific and general rear bumpers I decided to just go for it.
And it begins.......
I made a brake press similar to the swag offroad kit and bent up some...
I have been gleaning information from here for a long time and I finally have enough progress on my truck to start posting. I spent the better part of a year looking for a '96-'97 f250 short bed crew cab 7.3 power stroke with a zf5. When I finally located one in eastern Washington last June I...
Here is what I came up with for my obs F250. I looked long and hard for an example but was not thrilled with what I was finding. I used the HD hinge kit and recovery points from A to Z fabrication and a pull pin from McMaster Carr, the rest I made myself.
Most all the the input from epo has been positive. The price on tread depo with shipping for 4 285/75/16 was $997. A local discount quoted me $920 installed plus tax so $1007 out the door. It is a little odd that the site lists the the 285/75/16 as having a overall hight of 33.1" and the...
JayBuller the truck looks good! How is the Detroit on the pavement? I'm pretty sure my OBS just has the factory LSD but it seems to do a good job so far. Eton has a e-locker for the d50 that would be perfect in a dual purpose rig.
New to me CCSB F250
Hey guys, I have been a long time lurker and have just recently picked up an adventure worthy truck. I am not new to exploring and have had a FJ60 and R50 pathfinder before, but neither fit the all around vision that I currently have. I needed something that could fit my...
The tires fit good and don't rub on our truck. It would benefit more from a locker than a lift in my experience and the factory LSD is of no help offroad.
Great choice on the R50 pathy. I have had my '01 for five years now and it has been a great rig. I was going to lift it but just haven't gotten around to it since we use it for on road 99% of the time. I put some wrangler MTRs in 245-75-16 on it soon after we got it and have been very impressed...
