AGM vs. Lead Acid for solar (in 2017)

I would not drive a vehicle with an FLA mounted in the cab. Don't want the risk of an acid spill in event of an accident or rollover. In cab, it's AGM all the way for me. FLA OK in the bed of the truck.

Race fuel in a Coleman dual fuel?

Around here, ethanol-free 91 is $15/gallon in five gallon drums. No lead, but no ethanol. I only use it in my pressure washers and yard equipment, too expensive for the truck.

Maxtrax vs TRED vs Tracmats vs X-Trax vs X-Jack

I dunno about that. I have aluminum sand mats and MaxTrax, and the ones that are ALWAYS on the truck are the MaxTrax. They seem to work pretty well in desert conditions.

    Recoating powder coated metal

If you have more money than brains, blast and re-powdercoat. If you are prudent, clean up the rust, scuff sand the whole thing, spot prime the bare areas with rust converter to mitigate future rust, then prime and paint the whole thing with rattle cans.

LED flashlights that use regular batteries or rechargeable? (early 2017 edition)

This must be the Golden Age of flashlights!

LED flashlights that use regular batteries or rechargeable? (early 2017 edition)

Mine are fused into the aluminum tube. I might try driving them out with a dowel and a BFH. Or not.

LED flashlights that use regular batteries or rechargeable? (early 2017 edition)

I used to buy them by the dozen, still never had them with me when I needed them. I just got some single AA lights from Amazon, claim 500lm, with hi-lo-strobe, and sliding focus. Don't know if they are really 500lm, but they are bright. Four of them were less than $10 total, delivered from China.

LED flashlights that use regular batteries or rechargeable? (early 2017 edition)

Most of my flashlights run on AAs now, but I have a few rechargeables from Pelican and Optolight. I have some of the Costco Duracells and they are great as knock-around lights. My preferred AA lights are from Coast and Fenix. The battery leakage problem in MagLights is common and is not...

Arb engel dometic luna etc. Covers?

For those of you who don't live or travel in hot climates, I used to carry a digital thermometer in my truck. I have recorded interior temps at 185F in the interior of a white truck parked in the sun in So Cal and AZ. With tinted windows and light upholstery. Anything you can do to protect...

Ozark Trail "High Performance" cooler - any good?

Same here. When my ORCA 58s are full, they probably go about 175 pounds. They stay in the truck until they are nearly empty.

Ozark Trail "High Performance" cooler - any good?

Looks like some Georgia boys are already there, but motorized. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Btep0qCwjd0

Ozark Trail "High Performance" cooler - any good?

I don't remember which company it was, but when I bought my Orcas about three years ago, at least one of the recognizable rotomolded cooler companies offered a wheel kit for their coolers.

    GMT-800 5.3 alternator recommendations?

My story is old, but similar. Had an aftermarket hi-output alternator in my '98 Z71 with dual Optimas. Alternator failed in the desert and I got almost 100 miles back to civilization on batteries alone, then the truck quit just as I got into the first town. Had to call for a tow the last...

Power supply to rear of Truck

You might look at the Ctek D250S Dual. It will charge the trailer batteries first at a maximum of 20 amps to the trailer, so that you can wire the trailer for that max current. Once they are fully charged, the full charge current goes to the starting battery. The D250S is also an MPPT solar...

    Bed liner on plywood?

I used Behr Deckover on a project last spring, and I hated it. Big PITA to mix and apply, and I don't think the bond is as good as with bed liner. But lots of colors to choose from. Olympic has a similar product, but I have not used that.

    Bed liner on plywood?

The Rust-O-Leum bed liner is fine on plywood if applied properly. Make sure plywood is clean and dry, scuff sand lightly with something like 60-grit on a random orbit sander, dust off thoroughly. Apply the coating with a roller, two coats with the second one just before the first coat has gone...

    Battery-powered portable shower

I have a 13+ gallon PVC tank on my roof rack, with a simple boiler drain at the low point. High point has a compressor ball valve drain cock. When I want to fill from a garden hose, I just connect the hose to the boiler drain and open the drain cock on top. When water squirts out the drain...

    12 volt "upcharger"?

Also depends on how your vehicle is regulated. On some, the "regulator" is part of the ECM and can't easily be changed, even with the dealer's computer.

    12 volt "upcharger"?

Since OP has failed to tell us exactly which AGM he is running, we just don't know for sure what the solution is. For certain batteries, such as the Odyssey 2150, the alternator on most vehicles will not properly charge and maintain the battery because the voltage is too low and the vehicle's...
