    ** Sold ** – Well equipped 2017 SoCal 510 XS Teardrop - $25,800 – Centennial, CO

Thanks. That's why we do what we do. Life is too short to spend it in organized campgrounds. ;)

    ** Sold ** – Well equipped 2017 SoCal 510 XS Teardrop - $25,800 – Centennial, CO

My wife and I are selling our 2017 SoCal XS 510 off-road trailer. Our travel style is changing again and we are moving to a full-size pickup built for off-road with a Four Wheel Camper Hawk pop-up camper. We have used the 510 XS over the last 5 seasons (April – October) exclusively in Colorado...

Ah... nice. Much like the Propex propane heater in ours. Much easier to work on yours though if you ever need to. Ours has the max amount of drawer space built around the Propex, so the heater is mounted flush against the back wall.

I'm curious. Is the diesel heater built in or a free standing unit? If built in, where did you end up mounting it?

FWC's 'sprung' at the front/top... what's the deal?

Good to know. We have a Hawk, front dinette model coming in Feb. '22. I've read a few other posts here and there about the latches coming undone. I'll be checking that after we start using ours.

    FWC Solar Install

I have used 2 sets of these. One on a SoCal Teardrop trailer and another on a home RV battery charging setup. All aluminum, very light and very strong. They allow variable angle tilting of the panel as well as flat. Adjustable Solar Panel Mount Mounting Brackets

The water fill, pump and other plumbing on our XS is also on the passenger side. We also have the on demand hot water, propane heater, sink and the side mounted 10lb propane tank. Water heater and sink are passenger side, heater and propane tank are driver side. This has worked well with the...

    Towing with a Jeep Wrangler

We tow a SoCal XS510 teardrop with our 2016 Wrangler JKU with 3.6L Pentastar and 5 speed auto. Haven't weighed the trailer fully loaded as yet, but it's likely in the 2300-2600lb range. The Wrangler and trailer are on 37" M/T tires. The Jeep is fairly built up with 4.5" AEV lift, Dynatrac...

Don't know which model yours is, or the galley layout. We had an XS510 built with an ARB 82 quart fridge installed. SoCal relocated the water pump to the passenger side of the fridge compartment to make room for it. There are definitely options.

Our 510xs is great. Biggest problem I've had so far is that I don't have enough time off to use it as much as I want to! Things I would not change: Marine interior - The full locking door cabinet set in the interior gives us enough room for clothes and many misc. items for my wife and I for 2...

    New Iota IQ/4 brain units

Nice idea. Took too long to come to market for me. My Iota power supply is too old to work with these. I'm with you. Needs to be programmable. If it isn't programmable, it won't ever be really useful to a broad audience of people with diverse charging needs.

So the longer term verdict is we still carry it with us every time out. When the wind isn't blowing too hard, it's very nice. But it doesn't get used all that often. It it's raining without much wind, it's great. When it's raining and the wind's blowing more than a little bit, there isn't...

Awnings - Driver or Passenger side mounted?

First one was passenger side. A year later, the second one went on the driver side. Too many places where an off-road teardrop goes where you really can't choose the way you park it.

What do you use for deflating your tires?

Teraflex tire defaltor (key chain) + a Joe's racing pressure gauge. As quick as most with a set of Staun's because they go around and check pressure when the Staun's finish. I walk around the Jeep 3-4 times, check pressure, remove when they're at the right pressure. Simple, no core removal...

    ARB 63qt fridge questions..

When it's not empty, things shouldn't freeze unless you have your temp set very low. I don't know where the internal temp sensors are that control the fridge operation. Unless you have very fragile contents in the refrigerator, I wouldn't be too concerned about it. YMMV.

    ARB 63qt fridge questions..

We have an 82qt and 50qt ARB fridge. Both act the same as yours, especially if empty. No refrigerator is very efficient when empty. The fridge has to be measuring inside wall temps for its controls, so an empty fridge is going to read warmer out in the middle of the empty space. The ARBs do...

Storing propane cylinders inside enclosed spaces

We carried an 11lb or a 20lb propane tank in the enclosed area of an Adventure Trailers Chaser for several years. That's a pretty well sealed cargo area only. The likelihood of problems in doing that seem pretty low to me. There aren't any obvious ignition sources in that enclosed area (at...

Could be light spots in the powdercoat itself. I've had that on a few things over time. If it's bad enough you could have the rack cleaned up and recoated. I wonder what Line-X or something similar would be like on a rack like that? Might be worth checking with your builder on the rust.
