    Autohome owner, ladder upgrades

Is there a source for generic tent parts? That ladder type isn't listed on CVT's site any longer, but I need to find a sturdy ladder and attachment points.

Roof rack suggestions for 2017 Lexus GX460

This ⬆ I had a Prinsu and just sold it to get the FrontRunner for a few reasons. I want to mount an awning, and the FR SlimLine II will give me more real estate to mount to, and it has the feet for the RTT which will allow my heavy RTT to flat, and not have any gaps in the front/back on the...

    Autohome owner, ladder upgrades

Cool love to see some pics and how you went through the fiberglass. The hooks are ok but not fixed and slide around.

Help me pick a Toyota platform? Trying to decide amongst: LX/LC/GX/4R/Taco

GX all the way, V8, little more nimble and smaller than the 100 series and much more responsive on the throttle.

    Autohome owner, ladder upgrades

I wanted to survey the Autohome owners and see if any had switched to a more sturdy ladder and what. I absolutely love my tent and wouldn't trade it for the world, maybe another Autohome ;) however the existing ladder gets a little sketchy sometimes and wants to slide laterally on imperfect...

    Handheld GMRS options?

I've got mine set as -9 like all mobile stations should be listed to my knowledge. Since it's dual band, I had B-side dedicated to APRS 144.xxx and it would beacon and send it's packets as I was headed up the Interstate. Not sure if I can still beacon of it's not set to that frequency on one...

    Handheld GMRS options?

Yeah I'm trying, got my 710 configured as -9 for mobile station on APRS/APRS.fi. I'm just trying to get more practice and contacts. When driving in the area if I'm in my truck, I'll listen to the repeater and see what I can't stir up, call CQ (yes I do that) and sometimes get lucky, but most...

    Handheld GMRS options?

Haha very cool and I get that, it's great you have everyone involved. I'm just thinking that for what I want to do which is just talk to folks and reach/find somebody when I get on the radio, that the ICOM 4100/DSTAR might give me a better ability to do so.

    Handheld GMRS options?

Yeah see that's awesome and ideal for your use case for sure. Me either being solo or with another, there's rarely ever anyone else to let know where I'm at, and more practical for the SOS feature the more I think about.

    Handheld GMRS options?

Thanks guys, I was just looking for a simple good quality GMRS, with possibly other capabilities which I now know doesn't LEGALLY exist. I got a nice little chewing over on the ham QRZ forums lol, friendly bunch. I think APRS is really cool, and fun to play with, but actually having a...

    Handheld GMRS options?

Ok cool, yeah I've seen that feature and wondered how it worked. Also I see that you can send messages via a packet and communicate then with an app on your cell phone. That seems a little gimmicky, but it's a neat feature if you're a family out on a big piece of property or something.

    Handheld GMRS options?

Ahh ok got ya. Not sure what that would even be used for to be useful. What do you think about my HAM rant?! Would going digital make much of a difference you think

    Handheld GMRS options?

Thanks Dave, what do they mean by digital data? Like position info? A one second max on transmission time doesn't make sense to me. Also I thought the ICOM HT was dual band for some reason, but it's only 70cm, which I wouldn't go for anyways but it's a moot point now. Just go with a GMRS HT...

    Handheld GMRS options?

Yeah the Midlands or Motorolas seem the best bet, either that or go for the B-Tech. Reading a lot of regulations and things on Part 90, 95, and 97 devices, I learned that all FRS radios are only 0.5W and must have the fixed antenna. GMRS the antenna can be swapped and most handhelds are up to...
