I like the looks of both, but I don’t think the Tufport is quite tall enough in the front half if you’re over 6’1” and have insulation and flooring.

Those Hightopvan tops look good. They look to be a reverse flange design. Have you talked with them? I’d be curious to know about that and how much install and supplies run.

Agreed. Looking at my high top, I feel like I would need to manually curve the mounts slightly to match the shape of the top.

I’ll be interested to see the feedback on this. Out of curiosity, why not make the exterior mounting points a full plate like the interior, rather than “feet”?

The 80/20 seat base is cool. Could you use it to add a drawer under the seat?

Yes I understood this. I guess I’m thinking back to the days of TV/VCR combos. When the VCR failed, you had to buy both again. Or phone/fax/copiers.

Man such a compact unit to do both jobs. How is reliability with these? I’ve always wondered what happens if one function fails on a trip? Do you lose the other also? And if it’s not reparable do you have to replace the entire unit?

I think this is how people end up in ever larger vans…

Eric, somewhere here or on SMB forum I saw a van with a Webasto panoramic roof. Might have been an older model than the ones you see at the link, but it was super nice. Came with a retractable blackout shade and retractable screen and was easily big enough to crawl through.
