Project update : Springs and things
It is a little known fact that the shocks in the front of a P38 are generally 2 inches longer than the shocks in the rear.
We decided to take advantage of this by swapping in a set of front shocks to the rear.
On the upside we would gain more down...
The most important thing to keep in mind is all tire manufactures lie. My point is we have three trucks in the yard with 32 inch tires and none of them are the same size. If you go on a recommendation try to get the exact same tire that the person recommended not only the tire size.
This is what I would recommend.
Lift " IID tool "
Sump and Trany Guard
Rock sliders.
Look what can be done with an LR3/ 4 that had these three upgrades.

I see where you're coming from. Your math and the current disco pricing seems to work. For those that don't know the Disco and the Defender were the same price at that time.
My rumor mill told me they were trying to keep the base model under 40. That would make sense if the base model jeep is...
Project Update : Top to Bottom
New Rack
As much as we love the P38 SD rack, they are not very practical when compared to the modern racks on the market. So we stripped off the SD and slapped on a Front Runner unit.
We went with the Front Runner rack for a few reasons, but the main one was...
Pit Bull rocker
Swamper Irock Bogger TSL
Nitto Mud Grapler
BFG Krawler
Maxxis Trep?????? Something
In my opinion these are mud tires. Street use is not a priority. The reason we run Nittos is because they seem to be the best balance of Street usability and off road traction.
You make some very good points and I have the same opinion of the MTR VS the KM2.
I also agree the KM2 is a great off road tire that allows you to drive on the street. But it is not a substitute for a true mud tire.
