Interesting I’m looking at the new 2020 Explorer and I’d wager its running the same setup. Its the same rear wheel drive linear engine layout with the logic playing with front wheel power allocation. All the other “awd” offerings are transverse engine and front wheel drive biased.
I’m eyeing the...
The cost of the bikes and having a enclosed cargo/camp trailer they go inside the trailer. LoL Thats exactly the big reason I want a enclosed trailer like the Intech. To secure my bikes and other junk outa sight and outa the road grime.
I like it! Makes total sense given the drama over the gofast style shells. Gives them a potentially higher production product that probably creates more brand reach.
I looked at a 2019 GLS last week checking off possible options. I have a inherited SLK350 fun car 2006 with 20,000 miles on it. No joke the 2019 GLS $80,000 rig had the same exact dash fittings my 06 has. The seating material is called Mtex my parents 1979 VW had the same seating material...
I’ve been eyeing rack ideas. Totem pole is interesting for 4+. I like the tray style for 2 bikes. Anything more than that the tray sticks out too far 4+ ft. The vertical style racks keep them in close but many are very bike specific MT Bikes for quick shuttle drop off pick up etc.
My dad is a former backpacker his last trip was last yr. 18lb backpack 3 day trip. He was 74yrs old. Had a blast. But said hes done with it. Can’t carry enough to pack into his favorite spots. Horse packing he’s done and his old legs can’t do long hours on horse back anymore.
All he needs is a...
My dad is looking at selling the house renting a room and doing 6mo outa the yr on the road. I’ve gone around and around on this with him. The elder folks who do long stints on the road have a few top tips. #1 a bed you don’t assemble each time you use it.
Ease of getting around in said wagon...
You do know Nissan is in a world of hurt so deep they are begging Renault to buy them right? All the Infinity and Nissan dealers near me went tits up last yr. Its so bad at Nissan they missed the biggest pay day ever in CA by not getting the new Leaf out in time for the CA HOV lane expiration...
My bet is the Rover dealers will do a sizable dealer add on over MSRP. The Defenders sold a few yrs back suffered from that. Lots of potential buyers walked away. I bet they would have sold more if the dealers hadn’t jacked prices up.
The 2020 is not even remotely the same machine as the 2019 and older version. Totally different rig. Rear wheel drive, linear engine/ transmission layout. Longer wheel base wheels pushed to the corners. The 3L v6 10spd combo is interesting. The 10spd serves up a pretty low 1st gear. Granted its...
Im likely picking up a 2020 Explorer the Expedition is about another $18,000 and Parking that fat bastard in Sanfrancisco is my biggest issue with it. If I didn’t have city parking need once in a while I’d go Expedition for sure.
The 2020 Explorer will do 99.5% of what I want to do. I would...
Thinking the same. Probably depends on how much miss direction Ford has going on the jeep like doors etc. Ford has become a master of miss direction playing the media and development on its new vehicle development.
Agreed
That’s been my issue shopping a replacement for my 06 Sequoia. The only modern options that are remotely interesting sadly are not as capable off road in stock form like the Sequoia. A new old Sequoia not interested if I’m dropping new truck money I’m going modern tech.
21,000 items processed makes me doubtful its a remote off road rig. Unless they give you the software and ability to zero out errors that strand you in BFE. Lol
Its interesting but that 34cu ft behind 2nd row suggests its small. And thats the 110 I think. For reference the 2020 Explorer is 47cu ft behind 2nd row. Which I thought was ok ish but not great from a gear space standpoint.
I test drove the 2020 Explorer today and drove the expedition again. I...
In the end its braking ability that seems to have Taco owners move up to heavier full sized options. Mods add weight too. Except the engine and brakes don’t really get upsized with the weight.
