If you were to start all over with a brand new truck, which would you choose?

My PW is ten years old and has been, by far, the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned, bar none. Ten years and it has only needed a water pump, exhaust manifold bolt, and the CD player. Way better than my three GM trucks, way better than my first Toyota truck, way better than my Mitsubishi...

If you were to start all over with a brand new truck, which would you choose?

My PW got no suspension mods before it was ten years old, and then only because it was time for new shocks. Ran 35's the whole time with no problems. Never broke anything except the CD player because it couldn't take the pounding offroad. I don't think I'll get my ********** done.

If you were to start all over with a brand new truck, which would you choose?

I have not had that problem except at pretty high speeds. I recently added a set of Boogie Bumps to the front of my 3G plus Thuren Fox 2.0 shocks and the truck is good for 60mph-plus through plowed fields, as long as you are belted in.

If you were to start all over with a brand new truck, which would you choose?

I currently own a 2005 Power Wagon, a 1998 GMC Z71, and a 2008 Tundra TRD CrewMax. The GMC is going away as soon as it gives up the ghost, the Tundra will be its replacement as a daily driver, and the PW is my outdoors truck. If I could only keep one, it would definitely be the PW. If I were...

    Heavy tool box sliding rails.

See if you can find an old professional 10" tile tub saw, like an MK or a Dewalt, and cannibalize the trunnions and ball bearing rollers from the unit. Those things are built to handle a lot of weight (pool coping pieces are about 80 pounds each) and they have about 18"-24" travel. Lots of...

    Running 24v lights on 12volts

Dim, but they will last a long time.

    Heavy tool box sliding rails.

Lots of Toyota trucks in wrecking yards, some probably have the rail system in the bed. Post a pic of the back of the Zuk to remind us what you are dealing with.

    Heavy tool box sliding rails.

Some pickup truck boxes come on rail systems that allow them to side the length of the truck bed on tracks mounted at the bed rails. You might just order those parts and shorten them to fit the Zuk. Toyota has a sliding tie-down system that can probably be adapted to fit, and there is a...

Air compressor power from 7 way trailer plug?

A longer hose is not a fire hazard. Just sayin'...

Air compressor power from 7 way trailer plug?

Don't overthink this. The hose is your answer. And it's cheap.

Air compressor power from 7 way trailer plug?

The rule of thumb on compressors is that you extend the hose before you extend the wiring, due to voltage drop. A longer hose is a cheap, simple, effective and safe solution. Or just get a second hose to quick-connect to the existing hose when you need more length. I carry a 25' polyurethane...

    Dead battery issues

The 34/78 Platinum is a rebadged Odyssey 1500, and you can get specs and charging details on the Odyssey website. From my memory (faulty though it may be), I think the 1500 is 100% charged at 12.84V. 12.6V is probably about 50-60% of a full charge. What specifically is your "proper...

    Upsized Tires/Wheels & Vehicle Performance

Then it would appear that there is no excuse for the error. Somebody screwed up. It's not a big deal, but just another reason not to believe everything stated in the article, until more detail is provided.

CM 3/4" shackles - US made 7 ton WLL - on sale

I just called Grainger and the posted web clearance price is $35.15, the lowest they would go on the phone call is $32.00. Where did you call to get them for $18.50? And how many did you have to buy to get that price?

    Sears Diehard Platinum 31M issues

Some of the Optimas I used to be able to buy had been used in display booths at SEMA. So, sitting in a both for a week, maybe powering a sound system or some other automotive gizmo, and suddenly it's a used battery. Was a good deal, but I can't get those any more without a lot of screwing around.

    Dead battery issues

With a winch and a fridge, you probably want a Group 31 of some sort. The PM1 is just a rebadged Odyssey 2150, which you can buy from any Odyssey dealer. I have owned several, under both badges, and they are a lot of trouble to maintain. When I needed a battery for the Tundra this past...

    Sears Diehard Platinum 31M issues

I think "refurbished" in this case means they were used for something or returned/replaced under warranty but still tested as good when they got back to Interstate. The refurbishment is probably a charge, a test, and quick cleanup. I have purchased some Optimas like this in the past.

    Dashboard solar for fridge?

My experience with three of the dashboard solar panels on three different vehicles is that they won't even keep the battery topped off. Mine were Noco and were a waste of money. There should be something out there that will help, but I did not find it.

    wheel and tire size question

Lots of this is backed up by reputable magazines and their road/tester-reviewers, some of whom are actual engineers and some of whom actually know how to write. I am not referring to your typical offroad/4WD publication, but to others such as Car & Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend, AutoWeek...
