Mr heater buddy heaters in tents overnight

Yes - warm sleeping bag, plus a liner, plus warm sleeping clothes, plus a reflective Thermarest sleeping pad, plus a Nalgene bottle of hot water is certainly sufficient for a good night of sleep in the cold. But I'm curious to test methods for heating the tent for those minutes outside of the...

Yes - I thought about starting a new thread entitled "Ways to Heat a Tent: Pros/Cons of Each" but this seems to be the thread that has the most people pitching in with suggestions and ideas. So I decided to just keep posting here. This is a GREAT community of people to learn from, that's for...

I did see your post and did some research on the Propex option. But I couldn't figure out these two questions. Maybe you can help! 1) How could I use it without a permanent installation? I'd like to just pack it for cold weather trips and otherwise leave it at home. When in use, can it just...

OK - here are the results from my testing of the Electrowarmth mattress heater. 1) Drained my auxiliary battery from 12.6v to just 12.0v over 9 hours when set at 3 of 7 on the heating dial. 2) Wasn't very warm at all. I had to press my hand onto the pad very hard to feel just a tiny bit of...

My roof top tent comes with a wall-to-wall 3-inch foam mattress and custom fitted sheet (I think all roof top tents come with a similar feature). So I should be able to pin the heating pad right onto the mattress anywhere in the tent. Will report back here!

Thank for this idea - I have been looking for an expensive 12v electric blanket to test, but I could only find products at $40 and below. This looks like a more robust product, so I will give it a try. By the way, I found a very similar item on Amazon at a cheaper price. It looks almost...

Yes - I've moved past the carbon monoxide concerns. I set up my roof top tent with the lower annex for the first time, and realized that the tent has three huge windows, and the annex has three huge windows and a door. If I leave each of these open a few inches, there should be plenty of fresh...

Yes - that's another good option. By the way, Genesis just introduced some great 12v extension cables (20ft long) that wire directly to the bus connects on the dual battery system and can be mounted anywhere in the vehicle interior. The original 12v outlets in my Jeep run directly to the...

The most frustrating part of my experiments so far is that I can't get the math to work. The electric blankets were rated at 5Ah/55w and the reserve capacity of the Yellow Top is supposed to be 68Ah. But the Yellow Top drained from 12.5v to 3.3v in just six hours at 20F. Below is the tag for...

Well, propane freezes at -305F, right? :) I actually had trouble getting the Mr. Heater Buddy to light with the 20lb tank even when it was just 20F. I was using the Mr. Heater 10ft extension hose, so maybe that also made it difficult for the propane to build the pressure necessary to light the...

I'm halfway through my testing of many ways to heat a tent at night. So far, two failures. I was wondering if I could use my Optima Yellow Top auxiliary battery to power a propane tank heater all night. But the inverter shut down after six hours when the voltage dropped below 11.0 volts. So...

Makes sense - thanks. For me, it's a much longer process to take the entire mounting plates on and off, since the bolts are different sizes, the alignment is a bit trickier, and I have a CB antenna mount installed in the slot that MORryde provided for that purpose. But you're right, the...

Jeff: Here's a video showing how fast I can take the MORryde side trays off. It's really helpful since I put the trays on/off frequently, each time I switch between camping and off-roading. I know you don't like rivnuts, but do you think MORryde could make me a mounting plate with threaded holes...

I Put My Kinetic Rope Inside The Spare Wheel

Finally got around to trying this little trick that popped into my head a month ago. I have always wanted to find a place to keep my kinetic rope since it would be super helpful if I ever need to yank another vehicle out of mud or snow. But it's too big to fit under the second row seats in my...

Great pics - thank you for the detailed photos of the camp set up. How did you like the tire-mounted side table? Looks little low, especially for someone tall like you (and me). Also, I was VERY thankful that I was using your side-mounted MORryde jerry cans this weekend. Temperature dropped...

Thanks! Good info. After all that, I think I am most impressed by the fact you got your Jeep and the RTT into the parking garage! :) Great photo.
