Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

The problem is I get into it long enough to get a bit dangerous, and then I get on to something else and by the time I come back I've forgotten everything, because I don't stay on it long enough for enough info to get shuffled into long term memory. It's starting over every single time. I...

Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

I have autodesk 360 on my computer, but I am a cad sub-tard. And I don't know jack or squat about 3D cad.

Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

Boy this Ambo thing has stalled big time. Old Man Winter can really put the boots to enthusiasm, so I bought this thing as Santas' gift to me. Now I just have to figure out some way to make it relevant! It's not really the one I wanted, but that one has a 6-8 wk lead time and I don't do well...

Yeah. The other parts are only consumable in the case of high velocity impact, or due to "Here, hold my beer" Bubbafication. :)

    What's my '93 Quigley 7.3 E350 Ambo worth?

I don't think Banks makes any new kits for the van based idi. Hypermax does, and I think that's pretty much it.

I don't think they e redesigned anything. I think I bought mine a year or so ago and it was in the instructions to run a filter right off the big tanks if you're using those. My first trip out I used a big tank but this last trip I just used those little 1 pounders that fit inside. Those...

Hehe. My guys cook EVERYTHING on their jobs. Steak, eggs bacon and hash browns, burgers, you name it they cook it. Most of the stuff they weld on is preheated to 700 degree +, so heat is definitely no problem.

For those that carry Guns and Overlanding

That's your opinion of course, and in the grand scheme of things it carries about as much weight as mine. People also kill people with knives, baseball bats, cars, and any number of other things. In any case, I think I'm out because this conversation serves about as much purpose as...

Fred the Van. The More We Explore's Adventure Van Build Thread

$7000 sounds like somebody that didn't really want to do the job. I took my Ambo to Maaco and they started off at $3,000 for base white for the whole thing. When it was all said and done they went down to $1,700 but by then I was already ticked off by the used car dealer style price...

For those that carry Guns and Overlanding

I can see it's on the edge of devolving into an argument, which is unsurprising. There's generally two sides to this issue. There's a middle road as well, it generally speaking two sides. One side is "it's my right to carry and carry as I see fit within the confines of the law, but if you...

Stop the Helinox insanity: Introducing the $570 cot

For those that carry Guns and Overlanding

I doubt it's " the open carry mentality". I'd wager it's more of the "I'm tired of people questioning how I go about exercising my legal 2nd ammmendment right" mentality. I'm a firm believer in the biggest reason people have issue with people open carrying is because 1) so few people exercise...

That might be what the paper says, but they'd have to prove it to me. I've had a 140,000# chunk of steel in my shop, so I know what that looks like, and I'd never trust it to a handful of 1/2" bolts, grade 8 or no.

    material thickness for DIY bumpers?

People tend to way overbuild these things, equating their ability to take serious hits without damage as "toughness". Keep in mind your bumper is supposed to crumble and give up the ghost in an accident. ThT energy in a collision is going to go somewhere and it's a whole lot better that it gets...
