good theory as to how it missed the mark.

Having to pull an engine to service the oil pump isn't really that uncommon. A lot of commercial rigs you have to pull the cab to do much more than change the oil nowadays. It is generally pretty uncommon to really have an issue with an oil pump however... Doing in the sticks with a...

good theory as to how it missed the mark.

Some people are pleasant enough to be around that they have other people ride in the car with them, they might like some here to charge their stuff too, or maybe charge camera batteries . I am not one to argue about having too many USB ports as I have personally never had too many. A lot of...

    Because of what?

good theory as to how it missed the mark.

Eh, par for the course for a midsize and even a great many half tons. Not particularly noteworthy either good or bad imo.

good theory as to how it missed the mark.

To charge a phone out of sight similar to how they have had usb ports in consoles for like 15 years. I also like to stream music off a usb, great place out of the way place. I actually have my USB charger ports mounted under the dash under the glove box. When I need them a 6' cord will reach...

Just how different are mid size beds?

Ranger 19+ had 5' and 6' beds. 6' got dropped for 2024. Depth and width are also important though, Tacoma has a rather shallow bed compared to many other non Gladiator trucks.

good theory as to how it missed the mark.

Depends on the motor, maybe. Starter motor might be the same as a BMW one since they are using BMW engines. It may be modified to be more durable/sealed for offroading. BMW might work but not long term in harsh enviroments. Or maybe the transmission required a different offset or diameter...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

You would need a lot of things, a pickup engine (don't care which one) isn't made to run at high load continuously. They are not made with anything near that in mind. Like an ag engine, they are designed to run at rated RPM making rated hp for their whole life. They have a lot more beef, a...

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

You can have eco and you can have boost. You don't get both at the same time. If you need 3-400hp you are going to feed 3-400hp, there is no way around that. However if you don't need 3-400hp you don't have to feed 3-400hp and that is where the 7.3 will come up short.

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

One thing to keep in mind and why I keep pumping the brakes to come try to defend the Ranger... our older Ranger's that we know and love don't really have anything in common with the 19+ Ranger. Going from my '85 to a new Ranger... I think I would sound similar to those going from an F-150 new...

Tundra frame compared to the Land Cruiser 200 and Ford F-150?

It's hard to say, not a normal comparison thing and they are rarely on the same contentment to compare side by side. The truck they had when they relaunched the ranger in NA had the aussie style banjo rear axle lol.

Tundra frame compared to the Land Cruiser 200 and Ford F-150?

Different front bumper, engine, transmission and rear axle/suspension may have been factors as well. I haven't found the ambition to see what all got changed in the front drive/suspension. At the unveiling in 2018 they did tell us it was an all new frame but they left it pretty vague as to...

    "Noise Cameras" for loud pipes?

They are ground into the new pavement, there is no removing them without ripping up the highway and starting over... so we are stuck with it for the next 20-30 years. The wall thing will never happen. I am lucky, south of town they have the rumble strips inside of the lines.

New Tacoma vs Colorado vs Ranger

Greatly depends on occupant size front and rear.

    "Noise Cameras" for loud pipes?

Boo freaking hoo. The state put rumble strips on the highway in front of my house so it is a constant chorus of semi trucks bumper bowling their way down the highway. I'd rather listen to exhausts.

Tundra frame compared to the Land Cruiser 200 and Ford F-150?

IMO the more flexible frame for a more compliant ride is kind of a BS story... If you do the work... a boxed frame can ride beautifully. My '16 F-150 rides like a friggin dream. Coming from my '02 F-150 with a mostly c channel frame my '16's high speed ride and handling is unnaturally good...

    2020 Ford Ranger questions

Lots more bulk too. I have an older Ranger and a newish F-150. The F-150 doesn't play Ranger games any better than the Ranger plays F-150 games. Offroad, I very much prefer my Ranger. Hauling a tractor, F-150 all the way.

You can have eco or boost. You don't get both. If you need 300hp you gotta feed 300hp.

SO, school me - I am a Toyota guy, with a problem....

The Ranger with the electric t-case, like 3 bolts to slip the shift motor off and you can manually turn the shaft with channel locks or the like to manually shift the transfer case. And it does have a neutral, the positions are marked for 4hi, 4lo and 2hi. Neutral is the unmarked detent...

Sounds like Stellantis is on the right path.

They have smaller, most if not all are boosted which is probably less than ideal for this kind of drive cycle where the engine may go long periods without running and not really get any better economy because it is in the boost to make spec hp. And then you have intercooler etc to fuss over.
