Probably overkill for us these days is this 4-season expedition tent, called a Katabatic by Eddie Bauer. Winner of Backpacker Magazine's 2012 Editor's Choice Snow Award and been to Everest and the worlds highest peaks. Not from me of course, but I can say here that at Great Sand Dunes NP the...
Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence! Have a fall trip to Co where I’m hoping to get some sunlight in the days to recharge the fridge. I know the Dometic and Engle fridges consume less power but can’t change at this point.
Arb63
I felt compelled to reply here this is a great thread much too old, so bump.
I bought an ARB63 off Craig’s list July/2017 with the slider and the thermal wrap.
It’s has been running in the garage ever since as a beer cooler.
No Problems.
It is always precooled for trips to the desert...
Any ideas on ladder padding for when you come down in bare feet? I usually keep flip-flops at the bottom for the 2am trips to the bucket but the rungs are killing me feet!
Built my own slide-out for my M8mule trailer. I needed to hold a bar sink, containers for kitchen and camping gear and a stove with counter space. Knock-off Metro shelves from HD, 500lb drawer slides, and some scrap wood.
Still modifying as a work in progress. ~$200. Love this thread!
I’ll be checking.. I can’t see in the .com site how to download a map...
Hmmmm.... doing it from the app side is easy.
I’ll be checking on that this week. Having another way to do it may come in handy.
in the meantime I did find this tutorial on downloading google maps...
It works on the app and the .com site for me. See images.
On the the version I am using (pro) national forests do show up in the “public lands” layer in maps.
You don’t have to “send it” , as it’s already a layer. Again not sure if this is in the non-pro version or Pro version only. I seem to...
When planning an adventure I start with one of the road maps as a base map, add a forest service map which I can toggle opacity and interchange with the topo map, then top it with a public lands layer, followed by the MVUM .
You can add layers and delete, for instance just use the topo map as...
Depends. I live in desert area and have never had a problem because its very dry. Never needed one. In moister climates could be a different story as others have documented. depending where you live and use the RTT I would try it out first, second third...
Well, I haven’t settled on a coffee solution yet. Been using the Italian Espresso many mention on here, Medaglia-d’oro. Not bad but not up to my taste 100%. The big complaint I also would have is with cleaning the press out.
And the amount of water/paper towels and so on required... I’m hoping...
My M8A1 Mule build out:
I met mulebuilder on another site and really liked what I saw in these ORTs. I ordered up an M8A1 mule with some customizing touches so I could build it out as an off road-off grid camping trailer. Cost as picked up was $4000 plus matching rims to my the tow rig that I...
Sorry I misread your post in the other thread...
Power pack
Just took a look at that beast. Do I understand you want to use solar to charge a deep cycle battery inside the power Pack?
No, just the ARB 63 as pictured, and not as efficient- powerwise -as the NL.
So if you run a Renogy (standard MC4 solar connectors) to a Yetti be prepared to make a special connection or splice it into the Yetti cable, (I own a150 and thought about that) if you go all Goal Zero; the cost of...
