I wasn't ordering, just checking pricing. It might be a project down the road, but before I jump on that I think I'm at the point I need to decide if I keep it or not

Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

These were the bags I used on my F-450. These are a Firestone system. I used these because they mounted inboard of the spring on the axle instead of on top of the spring. The controller I used was from Airlift, and as far as I can tell has been discontinued, but the 2nd pic appears to be what...

Me too! Odds are I repaired the dies that forged those wheels.

Looking closer I think there's something goofy between their site and my gizmos. I've used my Mac and an iPad to "order" and each time it's been whacked out. But if you look close it says my order of 4 weighs 520# and even though the quantity up top says 4 down below in the shipping area it...

Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

There's really nothing wrong with your plan. Four inch blocks are used all the time by the factory, but even so that's about where Id max out in blocks. No big deal in a grocery-getter but when you start going over that in something meant to haul load, and the ******** to do it, axle wrap can...

Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

My opinion is that a helper spring in an already shagged out spring pack is a temporary bandaid at best and won't last. I like air bags for keeping a load level, but not leveling an already shagged out spring pack. If it were me ( and it was!) I'd figure out where I wanted to be height wise...

Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

Got the spring issue all sorted out. In the end I might have been able to do the sawzall thing but I elected to bite the bullet and do it the right way. Pointy bolts: On a stock swap they might not be actually necessary but I'll tell you when swapping in these modified springs they're dang...

Overnight was like $1,500.00. Still, I may have screwed something up so I'll take another look

The upfront pricing doesn't seem too bad, and I know less than squat about solar resellers so this might be standard, but shipping from them to me (OH) for 4 panels is $500.00. Shipping 1 panel is $250.00. I shipped an entire Jeep to Utah for less than that $500.00.

I hear that! I NEVER find those good deals and what's worse it seems like as soon as I decide I want something like say, a diesel heater, someone pops on the board with the "man I just bought a brand new in box never opened Espar D-something heater at a garage sale for 10 bucks" story.

New to overland, need some advice

When you're looking at Toyotas with high mileage and thinking "250k miles is nothing on Toyota motor Xxx", keep in mind everything else on the vehicle likely has 250k on it as well, and unless you have documented proof you have to assume so. Even if the biggest like motor, tranny, xfer case...

Ambulance Camper/ Expedition Rig Conversion FAQ

HDRV being Mega Ambo, I could have swore he had that up for something like $65k. No idea what it sold for though.

Belafonte Reboot....Ambulance to 4x4 Camper Conversion

Gotcha. Not sure to be honest. I can take a look at that tomorrow and if it's doable I'd have to give it some thought. If access is good it would definitely be the easiest/fastest thing to do, but if I ever need to pull that stuff apart again I'd have to buy new bolts to get it back together...

Ah. Yeahhhhh. Not exactly sure where that went. It might be in my garage, or the landfill, not sure which at this point. I'll take a look around for it. To be honest I never gave it much thought as to whether it was going back on or not.

Nah. I'll just pull the springs as much as necessary and do it right. Serves me right for getting impatient.

Could be, but it wouldn't get me anywhere in the end. I still wouldnt be able to put a new bolt in. It has to be installed with free access to both sides of the spring/shackle, IE not obstructed by the compartment or van frame.

I have those but only for the bottom bolt, the one going to the actual frame mount. There are no access holes for getting to that upper bolt.

Here's what's wrong with my spring install. [/IMG] See it? Maybe a close up. [/IMG] Of the 3 bolts used in installing a rear spring, only 2 of them go in this direction, and this isn't one of them. Big bummer for me, because it grinds on the mount big time and has to be...
