Since weight and cost are issues I would suggest getting someone else to fell the tree and cut the larger diameter and then you could downsize your requirements to something easier to handle.
I'd like to see a heads up match on a well known trail like the White Rim or Rubicon. Perhaps 2 of each vehicle, one driven by non factory diver and other by factory driver. This may give us a real world comparison of what can and cannot be done.
What's the cost of re-cert? If it reasonable it will get you 5 more years and no refill issues? Might be more cost and effort reasonable in the long run.
FWIW if you check around you might find a refill station that may not be as observant. Otherwise the refill operation is the same except terminal ends of hose will match. Safety is paramount.
