Sigh...
One of the things I love about this is the verefication of a build. Soekne has built one of the nicest and well thought out rigs I have ever seen. It is easily one of my all time favorites, hands down. But what I really enjoy is that he is a down to earth guy and truly uses what he has...
We're "small time"...
MT,
Yeah, I doubt you'll see any that are set up ready to do Dakar or the Camel Trophy. Most of us are just local adventurers. Due in part I think to the fact that our "buy-in" costs for these now outdated rigs is reletively very low. The added fact that most...
The Mecca of Colorado...
Oh Man,
Your singing the Sirens call of Colorado to me! Really...IS there any place nicer than there to own a Jeep? Is yours on the CJ8 site somewhere? I'd like to look into your build and maybe follow along as I do some similar stuff with my 83 and the Bantam trailer...
We are out there...
Guess it kind of depends on what level you consider done? We all may agree that a Jeep is never truly finished...but usable? Mine was in that catagory before engine failure...and rust. Big enough that I could sleep inside safe and dry with no need for a tent. But add stuff...
LOL...That would be...uh, cool? Sorry, couldn't avoid the pun!:coffeedrink:
I may have to shoot you a pm about this but either way I hope you get it. They are outstanding winches but do have some need as they get older for maintenance. Usually solinoids and wires.
Not likely but...cool?
Ice bullets!
If someone can figure how to create self healing concrete, then why not an ice bullet? Oh wait...they wouldn't be trasable...oops
Size conversion..
Would you mind converting the 7.50-16 to a US size? My chart doesn't read these. Maybe just slap a tape measure on it and give the height in inches?
Thanks!
Not Military...
Nice shape in general but its not a military trailer. Its a civy bantam as far as I can tell. Should be a post 1945 but someone with more detailed knowledge can help out here. The tailgate and non-pintle coupler are pretty good indicators. And while it is in a little better...
Torn opinion...
I am a bit torn and somewhat sad that something like this would be required. I'm sorry if having my opinion is taken wrong. I just grew up camping and have always had a campfire. It is part of my ritual, if you will, to gather the materials to get it going and a small source of...
A differnt thuought...
I wonder if you could use part of an old styrofoam cooler to seperate the two? They work moderately well as a cooler for their cost and are light weight. Heck, we all prob have a broken one laying around. Just trim out the lid to fit snug and press into place. Stack the...
Bring out the monkey...
Sorry to toss out the proverbial wrench toting tree swinger but I think there is one area you will need to address.
The Speedo/dash.
You will likely find it easier (maybe?) to just buy (craigslist/ebay/junkyard?) an entire, complete dash from a 9....uh, 3? or newer YJ...
Gotcha...
Or starvin' the squirrels for cool air!
If it doesn't sell you can always do the reciever mount method and keep it. Just fab up a reciever above the bumper and mount the Big Warn in a cradle. Its a little heavy but wouldn't interfere with anything until you need it. Plumb...
X2 imho
You may want to re-think the design of the tongue to reduce stress. I see potential for both vertical, lateral (side to side) and the effects of twist as potential issues. Not trying to step on toes...I dig the build. I would just look a little closer at the front.
What is it...?
Hey Scott,
Had a question about the fridge and am hoping you can answer it.?. In your first pic, just underneath the Fridge's handle is a verticle rectanglular opening. Kinda looks like a stereo horn tweeter?? Any idea what that is/does?? Thanks!
Outstanding...
Best winch ever made IMHO. If I didn't already have 2 I'd buy it! Someone needs this!
I'd suggest you post pics so folks can see the condition. Good luck!
Dave,
While power needs and requirements vary person to person I don't know that I would sell the VW motor out due to displacment alone.Compared to a 4.0 Jeep motor (best engine Jeep ever used IMHO) which is roughly 180hp and 210ftlbs (not exact just off the top of my balding head) I looked at...
optical dillusion...?
JS...
Looking at the back view of the hardtop...Are the little windows taller than the tailgat window or am I optically dillusioned??
