Ditto this. Any of the 6.x series is a ticking time bomb if you don't know it's history. It's not that they're bad engines, it's more that when something goes wrong it is STUPID expensive to fix. The 7.3 has it hands down repair cost wise. Much cheaper platform.
Of the lot, I'd go with the...
Anything can be a lot of trouble if you don't maintain it, not just diesels. The thing about the 7.3 is its a durable engine that generally doesn't suffer from any major issues until the mileage gets wayyy up there. Stuff like injectors and what-not is dirt cheap compared to anything 6.x...
Mine is just an E-series so the operation might not transfer to your rig, but on mine front and rear a/c are controlled separately. There's a switch in the cab for enabling heat/a.c. in the module, but once enabled the controls for heating/cooling temp and fan speeds are all in the module.
For your module radio maybe check out some of the stuff they use for pull behind campers. They might fit what you're after.
What's the dimensions on that port-a-potti you posted? I have a space under my sink that might be a good spot for hiding one, if the size is right.
Bad IAC can make it run funny for sure. Bad IACs on 2 different vehicles of mine yielded different symptoms. One acted as if the throttle was sticky. Wouldn't drop below 1100 rpm, but would do that sporadically. The other one had rough, surging idle issues. Relatively cheap easy part to...
Nah, not for beers. Not a big beer fan. Some sake maybe, or tekillya. :)
I didnt mean to convey that you were a salesman, but rather it smelled of a sales tactic, and dishonest was probably a poor choice of word. More like misleading.
I believe its your van, never really doubted that...
Hatches? Details! I was kicking around this idea for my Ambo, 'cause it would make it so much safer to wake up and do some early morning Zombie plinking, but was at a loss how to accomplish the mechanics of the hatch itself.
Ok, ground is good but have you checked actual voltage reaching the bulb? There's a fair amount of wire in these things with various connections, and most of it getting on in age. Your issue could be multiple places between the battery and the actual bulb. Corroded connection somewhere. The...
You still on dial up or something? It's a bit of a pet peave of mine as well, leftover from my days on dial up when cropping unnecessary crap from a post was just considered good form, but these days it doesn't really matter all that much though I still find it a bit annoying and lazy.
I've...
I think I'll be surprised if you get a response unless you pm or respond to his Craig's ad. He joined the Portal just long enough to place the ad and then bailed. It's his one and only post. I don't mind that in and of itself. Sometimes when you go to sell something is the time when you find...
This. And the last sentence is Guaranteed. Before you tackle your POR-15 project do a google search on Hootus, and keep in mind this is a competing product with nowhere near the tenacity of POR-15 for sticking to pretty much everything.
I'd have another Excursion in a heartbeat if I were after another SUV. You can comfortably seat 8 people and still haul a butt load of gear AND tow a respectable load. I pulled an 8500# camper up and down the Eastern states and up through West Virginia and Virginia was no sweat, though you...
Forgot to mention, all the 2wd advice is nice and all but I'm still of the opinion there's few vehicles in the world that can't be improved by the addition of a transfer case and a 2nd driven axle. Those that can't, probably already have them. :D
