The fronts weren't too bad because I could get over them and just lean into them, but the backs, hooo boy. All kinds of contortions trying to get under them enough to get enough leverage to compress, and sometimes I am stupidly stubborn about something, when it would be smarter and easier to...
I did those rear shocks with just the wrenches, and I Swear to God I thought I was going to burst a vein and/or have a stroke in the process. Them suckers do not like to compress with tiny little girlie-man arms doing the compressing.
Chris on that Bigfoot van, is it using same rims all...
Pshaww, don't worry about it. When the '71 rusts away to dust you can just bolt a bar to your engine and have a chrome plated $4,000.00 hi-falutin chainsaw. I've seen 'em on that there internet.
Holy crap. I don't think I've ever seen the front end of a vehicle pancake that bad. I'm surprised the attendant walked away with just a broken leg, and as far as the driver being killed instantly. Ya think?
It sucks that people died, without question, but there is another take-away from...
Love the snow shots with your pup. I've yet to meet a dog that didn't go bat-******** crazy for snow. Like little kids.
How you liking the Raptor liner. Would you do it again?
Raptor. Jumping. Snicker!
I'm glad no one got seriously hurt, but if I had been there, I'd have pointed my finger and laughed my ******** off. I mean, how seriously stupid do you have to be to pull this kind of brain-dead stunt...
Two things you might reconsider. One is flatbed. The basic structure might make a sound platform to build off of. Might. You're there, so you'll know. Just tossing out the idea.
Two. A dog. Nothing like a good mutt for a traveling buddy and a furry head to scratch when settling down...
Cool thing is, hot rods and race cars are a dime a dozen, but lifted flatbed 4x4 camper vans are not, which in my book makes your rig the most unique thing on the wall.
What he said. Back when I was a Jeep newbie the first one I bought was a 1979 Quadratrac. Works pretty much just like an LSD, except in the transfer case. I'm not sure if the fluid was wrong or had never been changed but man the first time that transfer case let go I thought I'd driven over...
I agree, I wouldn't pull the idi to swap in a gasser. You'd be better off to swap vehicles than do that.
My Ambo weighed somewhere around 9400# I believe when I brought it home. Bone stock engine wise, with 4.10 gears and 235/85r16 rubber (for sale wouldntcha know). I don't have a tach but...
Oh yeah. I'm active over there as well. I'll generally post the same issues to both sites. Here it's more a matter of adding stuff to the build thread and keeping folks up to date than digging deep for know-how on the idi. FTE is where I go after the real info, not that some folks here don't...
This. Now this right here is the kind of crap that can make or break a forum. I'll have to print this off and put it in Ambos Big Book of Knowledge I'd Otherwise Forget. Thanks a bunch.
