Did Nissan Kill the SFA for Toyota???

You are right about people buying 60-70k vehicles, but look at the wrangler fighter thread in chat.... There are quite a few who would be interested in a FJC type/price rig with a SA or a small pickup with a solid axle. Sadly, American consumerism has shot us in the foot. People used to keep...

Did Nissan Kill the SFA for Toyota???

All this because sailor said that the IFS was the 100's greatest shortcoming.

Did Nissan Kill the SFA for Toyota???

Good try, but I only asked you to back up your statistics stating that SFA would only account for 1/100th of one percent........ Also, I think they discontinued the IFS 100, but I am not sure..... No one said that the SFA was in higher demand. Still waiting on your sources. Is a 2nd-3rd gen...

    FZJ-80 noob questions.

How many miles on the 80? Any hills between you and the boat ramp? I'd be wary of working a really high mile engine really hard. Anything under 250k should be great. I agree on the brake controller...

Did Nissan Kill the SFA for Toyota???

True. Incidentally, I read a comparison of the Challenger, mustang and camaro in C&D a few months ago. The Mustang won.......with a solid rear axle....

Did Nissan Kill the SFA for Toyota???

Not trying to defend it, the IFS is clearly a superior on road design. Just saying that toyota put a lot of R&D into the 80 series and the handling reflects that time and money--it handles as well or better than my IFS T100.

Did Nissan Kill the SFA for Toyota???

As much as it pains me to say, shotts is mostly correct. However, In 04 sometime, I was driving my 93 on hwy 20 in NORCAL from willits to fort bragg, and a guy in a Volkswagen Passat station wagon tried to leave me in the dust. Now, I gre up driving that road and had the benefit of being in...

Did Nissan Kill the SFA for Toyota???

Land Cruisers had SFA until 98 in the US market, till 06 or so for the 105 series. I think that the on road advantages of the IFS are what made toyota switch over. For the vast majority of users, IFS is better anyway.....

Lockers for gravel / washboard (corrugations) experiences???

Autolockers may not be the best set up for a part time 4wd vehicle, but for and 80 series they are excellent. The biggest issue is that when on snow, ice, gravel, etc, you give it too much throttle and a part time rig will swap ends. The 80, being AWD will not do that. I had to work really...
