The differential internals will be under some serious strain with 1000lbs of wheel & Tire under there. I know those trucks are built tough, but that's a serious amount of mass.
With regard to the lokka I think they probably have a model for either axle, but I was referring to rear. I havent priced them but without the electrical & air you may be able to lock both axles for the same cost as a single air powered ARB. There are plenty of heavily modified xterra out there...
Build the xterra. Lokka is totally automatic & not too pricey. No need for electronic or air expenses either. A locked xterra on decent tires will go just about anywhere plus you already own it
Ya know I'm not sure, probably the E version, it's an LT, not P rated. 265/75/16 & definitely lost 1mpg maybe 2. My truck is a frontier so my mileage kinda sucked to begin with. I've had Falken Bridgestone firestone bfg pathfinder etc but I'm a Yokohama guy these days. The at/s is just the...
That does look intentional, lots of acceleration followed by a stab of brakes on snow/ice? In real world accident scenario I would expect over rotation and a right side impact, not an understeer event where the front washes out & the far wall gets hit. How you say "insurance fraud" in Russian? Ha!
Tire weight can easily drop a few MPG. A decent air filter & a more open muffler might give you a slight improvement but it isn't a cheap way to do it. A fuel system service could give back a mile or 2 per gallon but if you live in the Rockies, that crappie gas is going to negate most of your...
How many years/miles of 4hi did you put on it before it finally gave out? I only spend about 20% of my time in snow country & about half of that in 4hi. Never 4lo. Just curious how long I should keep that stock front diff before worrying about it
With the sheer weight of a duramax up front, I can imagine those KO2 were not long for this world! I'm no tire expert, but it seems to me a transforce AT or other commercial level tire would be the only way to see a real improvement in durability.
I couldn't get the old ones out to save my life, much less get the new ones in. I've changed plenty of lamps over the years in previous vehicles & about 100 concert stages all over the world, but this truck had me stumped. The shop up the street had no problem of course, in & out so fast they...
What kinda @$$h0le makes a headlight design like that?! You can't get a hand in there, much less do it without breaking some glass. And that ridiculous plastic ring is the terrible. What if you had to change a lamp on the road--You'd be SOL, that's what. Now I have to take this up to an...
Well that is good to know! I would not be a happy camper if I dropped a load of cash on bumpers & steps then had to wait months... I assumed they were a large scale operation but they sound more like 2 dudes in a garage at this point. I don't see this stuff as needing to be "custom" in any way...
Thanks all. This thing has never been off-road, no mods, even gets stock Michelin LTXs from the dealership! Who does that? Basically 99% factory condition.
