Can anyone school me in the 4m40 automatic?

yeah, im grasping at straws at this point. Seems like its almost pointless trying to run this transmission, unless maybe I can find a aftermarket transmission controller.

Is there a usdm vehicle that had a 4.9 low pinion 8" front diff?

I was at the yard today pulling the montero sport gears out of a 2000 3.5 with 4.9, then I realized the front diff is a high pinion. From what I understand, these will not work in my 1991 low pinion diff. Do I have any options for regearing my low pinion front diff? I'm pretty sure I can use...

Can anyone school me in the 4m40 automatic?

Little update. I figured out where the engine set came from. Of all things, It's from a type 73 mitsubishi 1/2 ton light truck. Basically their military rig. That explained the 24v alternator. Looking at the specs. It seems it's a 4 speed so im guessing it would be the v4a51 I do believe some...

Looking for a non made in china snatch block, Any recommendations?

Was looking into the rings last night, there is a guy that did a test, you are losing 69% of your pulling power with those vs 5% when going through a snatch block. This guy did a load cel test. Quite a nice video.

Looking for a non made in china snatch block, Any recommendations?

A buddy and mine are looking to buy snatch blocks, running max 10k winches. We would like to find something not made in china. Preferably something usa, australia, uk. Is there anything actually out there? I dont really wanna lug a big ol crosby around. I'm not interested in the snatch rings.

Can anyone school me in the 4m40 automatic?

that would be great, trying to figure out which computer to use. I'm hoping I can get a computer from the uk and wire it up to my first gen. I'm not quite sure what all the computer uses for shifting though. Does anyone know if they used the same trans for the entire life of the 4m40?

Can anyone school me in the 4m40 automatic?

Picked up a second gen swb wide pajero originally a 4d56, was poorly swapped to a 4m40 do to a cracked block on the 56. From what I understand it has a V4AW3 ? At least they did in 1994. This one has a waffle like casting on the top. So, they had no computer and right now, it literally has a...

Suggestions on a alternator for charging a single life04 that doesnt break the bank

Thanks for the replies. It's going on a inline 4 turbo gasoline engine. It's just seemed easier for me to add a second alternator and seperate the wiring completely instead of reengineering 1980s wiring for way more load then the stock 65amp alternator was ever intended for. Basically, I either...

Suggestions on a alternator for charging a single life04 that doesnt break the bank

I'm currently building my auxilary battery setup, which frankly is going to be overkill for what im wanting, but I think I have decided to go with a 100ah life04. From what I understand, they can be rough on alternators, and I think I may just isolate my entire charge systems with a second...

GEN 1 3.0 Timing Belt Tensioner Tool

there is no tool for a gen 1 swb. If you are having issues remove the spring that tensions the belt, set your timing on your cam gears, move your crank gear 1 tooth ccw, set your belt, use your hand to keep a little tension on the tensioner, then rotate the crank cw and by the time it takes the...
