Thankyou. No I didn't but I will be doing something of the sort today. Before getting it fitted on. Was thinking just some self taping roofing screws with the rubber collar. But perhaps rivet might be a better way to go?

Hello! Been awhile since some updates with the build. So here it is. I've been re designing and building the second generation roof rack for chinook. After getting a feel for and the performance of the 1st roof rack.
So here is the new one. Its aluminum this time.
Vs chromed steel. So lighter...
Got it.[emoji1419] . Well I suppose if you kept the goal of flat floor and 5" wheel wells. A Good afternoon spent installing some air bags on the springs could help with any weight concern shrinking those 5 inches???

Honestly to. IF you chose to re make your floor at the same height from factory . And you don't like the air gap between frame and the inside face of the wheelwell . You could "skirt it" . Like a straight flap of rubber. much like the plastic inner fenders on cars. .
Hope this made sense...
I'll go take a look mine later today. For pics. And reference. But personally my floor was in good shape and I didn't mind the gap much. But I think I have 3" ~ 3 ¼" of "body lift" between the 1980 truck frame and underside of chinook campers floor. .
(Just enough to allow the Over cab space...
Great ideas for all us chinook owners out there bro. Awesome post.!
I honestly don't mind the crawling in and straping / unstraping of the roof. . For years I only every did the front middle strap. And its never given me issues. And occasionally strap one of the rear straps. So for myself. Ill...
I've up'ed the size of the lifting arms from 7/8 x 1/16 wall to 1" x ⅛" wall.
And you can see what I used for the new tracks.
.
As far as the initial "hump" . I assume you're talking about that starting of the up motion from laying flat.
To be honest I hadn't considered this. BUT something...

The end result will be motorized. Since i intend to hold some weight up there now. Along with 2 gas struts to help with Stability once its in the raised position
