Just to stir the pot a little bit. While I think the JKU is a great vehicle I see a lot of people GROSSLY overloading them and expecting miracles. Keep it light and simple. You will be much happier with how the vehicle holds up, performs, and lasts.

My thoughts... -If your going to swap a manual just go to a 6spd :) -check the bracket that mounts the steering box to the frame. Most of them will crack or are cracked. They are great trucks but need love just like any vehicle 20+ years old.

I've considered it, I actually have a soft spot for old 'cruisers. I do think the jeep tub wins though for highline type front clips, tops, doors, etc. The LJ size tub is still rather well supported so getting a top and doors to fit will be an off the shelf affordable type thing.

Honestly. I think both those vehicles would be overloaded with that packout list. I would think about a full size quad cab shortbed truck that was 3/4 ton.

How about EFIlive? I would buy a 2006-07 dodge 5.9 just to play with EFIlive :) Work is looking good as always. Are you planning to upgrade the steering linkage to the newer/better stuff from the later trucks?

I have seen a few 2012s with the obd2 guage reading transmission temp. I think Rynomar on here and the AEV forum has something installed in his SPOD thingy above the rear view mirror.

Can't you just dissolve the foam instead of having to cut it in half and rebond?
