Just a little thing..... Take one new big although short home depot screwdriver that fits autolite 2100 jets just perfect and chuck it in the lathe.... Turn down the snout a bit....then a bit more....then a bit more.... Then it makes the perfect screwdriver for changing 2100 jets. I...

I'm still chasing perfection. Currently that project will probably be a longer 'jeep'. Most likely a fully custom build based on an Aqualu aluminum LJ sized tub. I am trying to blend everything I want into a single vehicle. 110" wheelbase, 39-40" tires, strong axles that are easy to get parts...

I don't know about all that and no comment on the other stuff. I did get chased down by a lot of other people. The little flatty seemed to be very well liked. It felt really good to get it back out and running. It is working better than it ever has overall. The new transmission, transfer case...

Could be. I reverse bled the system once and I had about half clutch ( before I could hear the fittings hit the pressure plate). By the end of the 1st day on the trail I had full clutch. I am a happy guy!

I guess this is a summary of what I learned in moab and mods I need to make.... Gears. I need some lower axle gears. I was surprised how well it did off road with only 66.5:1 low range. The plan is to install some 4.88 gears in the front and rear diff. That gets me back to the same low end...

It was great to meet you. You should bring yours out next year for a run. Even a day or maybe a free evening would be cool! I came really close to parking my MB next to some of the Jeep Concepts over at there booth to see what would happen :) Maybe next year... I have a feeling that next year...

I don't really know for sure, but I am pretty dang sure that the fittings where contacting the pressure plate BUT now they are not and the clutch is working. I think with the new clutch disc it probably had some high spots that wore off rather quickly. This made the clutch disc the right...

So now for some actually techie type stuff and a review of the flatie from the trip... I went to the trip fully expecting that I wasn't going to have a working clutch and I was going to have to pull the engine when I got home. The clutch was maybe working 70% when I loaded it on the trailer. I...

What a fun trip! Here is a few pictures.... I like comparing the size of my Willys to other things.....it's small :flipoff2: Smaller than a stock Rubicon, Smaller than a UA A1, Smaller than an expedition style motorhome......

To all those people who complemented me on the Willys at EJS that introduced themselves from this board, thank you very much for all the kind words!!

I can't believe that almost worked.... I was able to rotate the AN-4 fitting so the flats where pointed at the pressure plate. This allowed me to get about 3-4 half turns out of the pushrod on the clutch master. Now, the clutch ALMOST disengages before the fittings hit the pressure plate. I...

I came up with one more thing to try, but that is about the last thing I am going to do. It will work fine for running around town without a clutch if I need to. I did that for over a week with a broken clutch finger on my Ford once Moab will be fun no matter what, always is.

Did you ever have one of those feelings..... Here is a totally cool converted Willys. It has about every little modification you can imagine EXCEPT a working hydraulic clutch. Now, it works just fine for the most part. You push the pedal and the hydraulic throwout bearing moves forward right...

Getting pretty close now... I found this big ugly chunk of aluminum that looks like someone used for a hammer or something. I chucked it up in the lathe and made one of these... A shift knob for the transmission. I bent the shifter rod a little bit at lunch. I shortened it just a little...

WHY DO I HAVE TO BE STUCK AT WORK!!!!! I'm getting the itch to get this thing running and driving around again! I did sneak downstairs and stamp the shift pattern on the knobs I made last night....

A productive day.... I rebent the D18 shifters are work during lunch. A big rose bud torch makes it go pretty fast. When I got home I was able to finally test fit everything. the twin stick boot ended up working out really well. No binding at all. I then pulled the transmission cover and...

Thank you very much. Patience is a key factor for sure, but I think anyone can learn metal fab with enough time. Speed and efficiency comes with time. I am a self taught fabricator for the most part. While I have a decent amount of tools I do most things with very few tools and a little time.

I forgot to take pictures..... -Fenders installed -Grill installed with the radiator, fans, headlights, etc... -hooked up all the wiring for the engine, winch, lights, etc. -Cut down a driveline to make a temp/spare rear driveline -torqued down the output yokes, still need some cotter-pins...

A productive evening on small stuff..... I made a plug for the reverse switch hole out of a 9/16 fine thread bolt. The threaded portion is only about 5/16" long so it doesn't bottom out. I got the pedal assembly mounted along with the master cylinders. I ran into a small problem with the...
