    VW People....Check in!!!!

I have been around VW's for a good part of my life. While I was growing up we had a '78 Dasher, an '87 Jetta and my first car was a beater '91 Jetta. I currently have a 1966 Beetle that I rebuilt during 2010-11. Now with over 40,000 miles since the rebuild, the Beetle has reliably taken me to...

The black and white thread (film or digital)

An old 35mm film picture of a late February rural Kansas ride on my Honda C70. I remember that trip included sinking almost to the axles in mud, and losing my shoes in the muck dragging the Honda out. I developed the photo in my school's dark room for photography class. That crappy trunk was...

    Abandoned/derelict sites

Sabre those pictures take me back to exploring abandoned farmsteads while living in Kansas. It is always a little eerie to find an abandoned house still furnished inside. It's like they just got up one morning, got in the car and drove away. I remember an abandoned house outside McPherson, KS...

Lets see some full size pictures...

The old heap still has some life left for a trip up Mount Washington with a wrist pin knock, low oil pressure, and all. Made the 150 mile drive as well as up and down the mountain with no trouble. I can't help but be impressed by the tired 350.

Texas to California and back in a formerly derelict 1966 VW Beetle

Well the day is here and the VW is packed up to go. It will be interesting to see how two months of living out of a VW Beetle will pan out. I am not taking a computer along so I will do a full report when I return mid-August. The VW and I ready to set off. DSCF5750 by louiethespelunker, on...

Texas to California and back in a formerly derelict 1966 VW Beetle

Heading out for another cross-country trip with the '66 VW Well my grand plans of traveling the country living out of my '85 Chevrolet C20 came to an abrupt halt all of 4 days before departure. Over the past week or so it developed a bad wrist pin knock in the number 5 piston. So the '66 VW...

Texas to California and back in a formerly derelict 1966 VW Beetle

Thank you for the brief history of the Victory school. Although I enjoy exploring and photographing them, it is a bit sad to see all the ruins and dying towns throughout the Great Plains, especially ones that you had a personal connection to.
