My Defender 110 build up for South American travels

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but that sounds a lot like the topes that are notorious for sneaking up on drivers in Latin America. Of course I have no idea how large you mean, but I just wanted to point that out. Worst case scenario, a few will surprise you and there'll be some rubs but...

Good choice. Have you thought about doing the Zuk mod instead of adding a leaf if you need extra umph? Can't wait to see the install.

    Hannibal roof rack, 4runner console

Still for sale. PM sent DevilDoc... Bump for roof rack. Added "interior measurements"...if you want to mount a RTT you have 40" of room to play with. Cut the railings off and you'd have a very low-profile, low-drag, ultralight roof rack that'd fit any size RTT. This rack is a killer deal...

    Hannibal roof rack, 4runner console

Thanks Toyo, it definitely is a great deal. I think in my original post I mentioned the bargain, but I edited it out because I thought maybe it was too long winded...I tend to ramble on.

What vehicle to purchase? (college student on a budget)

1G 4runner's are great. Just be sure to ponder if you can live with 2 door vs. 4 door...I actually chose the 1st gen because of the fact that it's a 2 door. I can SQUEEZE in 5 people if I absolutely NEED to, but 99% of the time everyone will opt to ride in someone else's 4 door. It's win-win...

"The Border Runner" build thread: '87 4runner built for epic PanAm journey

Dave, thanks for the kind words. I actually bought a 10" Tuffy console on Craigslist for a great price. I swapped in bucket seats from a 300z and made custom brackets so I could squeeze the oversized Tuffy in there, but the seats just seemed a little too far apart. The steering wheel was a...
